Think flowering, not dry marijuana.
This is exactly the smell of a flowering marijuana plant. At the base of this fragrance is the photorealistic smell of the green fan leaves of a cannabis plant. The fruitiness of grapefruit and passionfruit playing the part of the flowering buds. The pine and resin accords completing the illusion that you are smelling a heavily budded THC laden plant, days before harvest.

Be warned, my fiancé said it was "candy sweet" when smelling it from a few feet away, and if you think of this as more of a flower fragrance rather than a passionfruit and grapefruit fragrance that makes sense. To be clear, this is not some dank heavy smell, but green and fruity. I'm sampling from a vial, but it is impressively strong when I put it on. It also projects well for a couple of hours and has a nice dry down that's a little bit more grapefruit/passion fruit forward and last for many hours after that.

Interesting cannabis/mint crossover
Sampling Borntostandout Mary Jane, fittingly involving cannabis, but also hemp, mint, woods, spices, and some sweets. It’s rather unique and a bit odd, a green-leaning take on cannabis that’s also fresh, tingly due to the mint, with a woody/spicy/ever-so-slightly sweet montage in the background. Despite its oddity, it’s fairly pleasant after the initial surprising burst, not overly cannabis/hemp-laden, in my opinion, one of the more restrained deployments of these notes, complemented by the green, fresh mint aspect, almost making for a bold freshie rather than something dark and edgy. I’m not sure I’d wear it myself but I applaud the creativity, and it performs well.

As with the rest of the line, it’s EDP concentration, priced at $210 for 50ml, and sold at various US boutiques like Ministry of Scent.

Is Mary in the Room With Us?
This is a juicy fruit fragrance. This is not green, woody, or spicy. There is nothing in here that makes me think of cannabis. That would be fine except the name of this fragrance is Mary Jane, this is suppose to highlight cannabis as a fragrance note. This is incredibly disappointing and honestly misleading.

If you ignore the marketing fumble, this is mainly a passion fruit fragrance. There is citrus at the beginning with a tiny hint of green but it is quickly overpowered by the passion fruit. I mean overpower too, the fruitiness is borderline cloying. It'll mellow out after a couple hours but then its a sweet dry down.

I think they did a really poor job with this fragrance. Its not what its marketed to be and what you do get is overwhelming your senses and fairly linear. It did last over 6 hours and the projection is strong. Its $205 for 50ml which is crazy to me but if you want a really sweet passion fruit scent, this that might be a good price range for you.

A Pleasantly Sour Freshness
Mary Jane is a pleasantly sour fresh fragrance with a certain green undertone.
It is beautifully crafted and is best suited for the warm days of the year.

Right at the beginning, you can feel this beautifully zesty quality through the grapefruit, but also the passion fruit. A green vibe can also be recognized, especially through the mint.
The listed hemp and cannabis note certainly contribute to this as well.

The fragrance definitely comes across as pleasantly sour.
On one hand, through the grapefruit and the passion fruit, but especially through the rhubarb.
Rhubarb is known for its sour characteristic. Therefore, I suspect that the rhubarb is pulling the strings here.
I wouldn't have recognized the sage as such, but when you read it, you can indeed identify it.

The longer the fragrance sits on the skin and dries down, the more woody elements come into play.
The zesty quality of the fragrance recedes a bit, but is still detectable.
The sour side of the fragrance is also still recognizable.

All in all, I really like the fragrance. You should definitely give it a chance and test it.

Daring Experiment; fresh, fruity, sweet... and sour...
BTSO not only dares to experiment, it is actually a commercialized experimental lab, which I really like about the brand. They are eye-catching, combine new elements, and yes, it doesn’t have to appeal to everyone. With this fragrance, I found the approach truly creative and simultaneously polarizing. Long story short, let's get into it:

- At the beginning, you get a special kick from a fresh-sour combination; probably the mix of mint, grapefruit, and the herbal hemp/cannabis note; very intense and at the limit, unfortunately a bit chaotic in my view, but somehow still exciting.

- Then comes an intriguing contrast of sage and passion fruit, which blends with the opening; this fruitiness paired with the hemp note could deter many because it somehow doesn’t harmonize; a rather irritating break, arbitrary indeed.

- In the end, the fragrance transitions into a slightly cloying-woody, sweet base. Caramel and cashmere wood create, in my opinion, an almost overloaded heaviness when combined with the rest.

- The sillage and longevity are average, both, nothing that stands out, but lies in a good middle ground.

Yes, an undoubtedly creative and bold fragrance, but not my cup of tea. Too unbalanced, a rollercoaster of extremes, from ultra-sour to herbal-resinous, to tropical-sweet then to caramelized-woody. The brain and the nose cannot and do not want to process this chaos.

It has a fairly bright and airy fruity mint fragrance, yet despite the eye-catching naming, the scent itself is rather simplistic.

fresh, sparkling, succulent but also dry. A great bright and green rather than resinous and dark take on cannabis. A summer staple for sure.

Misleading name, overly sweet passion fruit, strong but not unique. Too expensive for what it offers.

A wild bouquet of hemp and pine liqueur instead of roses and champagne. Balanced, surprising, and wearable. Fresh, green, and herbal.

I left my grinder open and someone spilled a soft drink on it.. there's a mint leaf stuck in the gooey pollen compartment.

Cannabis is really well captured.
Hats off for that!
However, there's also a very sweaty note.
Nah, really unbearable...

The theme of cannabis really hit the mark! Unfortunately, the dry down is rather cloying, strangely unbearable for me. Who wants to smell like that?

At first, it smells exactly like freshly mowed, very dry mountain meadow with woody herb stems in it. Without ganja.

The scent smells just like the famous "Love 66" - shisha tobacco.
