An Extremely Exciting Fragrance
Many thanks to Nick for the decant of "Purple Haze | Ensar Oud / Oriscent" :-) This is one of the few fragrances from Ensar Oud that I actually like, even though it is yet another very idiosyncratic perfume. The longevity is incredible and lasts well over 15 hours. Even after 24 hours, the scent is still perceptible up close, which is due to the oily texture that develops on my skin upon application. The sillage is also quite pronounced.
The top note initially smells very fruity to me and reminds me of Fanta in the flavors of orange and mandarin. The heart note continues to smell fruity with orange and mandarin peels, accompanied by a hint of raspberries. Then floral hints of blue lotus, hyacinths, rose water, and jasmine blossoms come knocking. Over time, a spicy woodiness emerges, reminiscent of fir, rosewood, and Sichuan pepper. The base smells exceptionally woody and earthy with oud and a touch of vetiver. But it doesn't smell too intense or even animalic like many other fragrances from Ensar Oud; rather, it is pleasant. There is also a certain leatheriness that resonates.
In the end, I am quite taken with it, but I should ignore the price, otherwise it hurts again...
