Fragrance number two from my discovery set, and fitting for summer, I also tested "Vitias | pernoire." A scent I don't have to think much about and which is supposed to be a somewhat different summer fragrance. I was at least curious about what awaited me. Since the brand promotes a different perspective on fragrances, the anticipation was naturally even greater here.
What can I say?
It is definitely a completely different kind of summer scent. A combination of notes that you really don't expect and that feels extremely new and different for the current season. Nothing really fresh, nothing really maritime, but still somehow refreshing and summery. Somehow a category that you would also place "Join The Club - 40 Knots | XerJoff" in, with summery influences yet completely different. Especially on my skin, the fragrance was not a "real summer scent."
It is a play of many interesting notes that give you a feeling of summer without being truly summery. A rather flat scent curve that still manages to appear different through the varying prioritization of the individual notes. From the very beginning, all notes are perceivable, yet always different in the perception of my nose.
The first association was after a thunderstorm. My concern was that it would take on the theme of
Orage or "French Lover / Bois d'Orage | Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle." However, this quickly turned out to be a misconception. An iris note and angelica root were added. A mixture of maritime undertones from the amber, along with a powderiness and the very special note of angelica root, which brings a completely different touch. Somehow moist, somehow salty-crackling, noble iris and bitter angelica. Wow, this is truly a different interpretation of a summery fragrance.
You still get the feeling that something vetiver is resonating somewhere. A dark-woody hint in the background paired with the slight moisture. There must be something.
As mentioned, the fragrance does not undergo significant development on my skin. It rather plays with the prioritization of the notes. Sometimes you notice the maritime amber more, sometimes the iris, and in the next moment the bitter notes. A nice interplay within the DNA, making it always interesting and good for another sniff.
The performance is also really strong for a fragrance that is seen for summer. Since almost all volatile notes have been omitted, it is not surprising that it achieves incredibly good longevity. It lasts at least eight to ten hours. During my first test, I sprayed the fragrance on, showered after six hours, and I could still perceive it distinctly. Even the next morning, I could still smell it on my arm. Quite intense. The sillage doesn't quite keep up, but especially in the first hour, it generously disperses its notes around.
All in all, a really interesting and strong fragrance for the warmer days. I can imagine it looking very good with a shirt outfit, as it has certain traits of a gentleman and comes across as very noble.
