Stadium-filling woody ambers and a squeeze of bergamot
Abraj is a fresh cologne opening grafted onto a core of powerful woody ambers that turbo-powers the scent into twenty-four-hour longevity territory. The tartness of the bergamot in the opening notes glitters meanly against a dark, musky cedar, producing what essentially smells like a lime flanker of the old Monsieur Balmain. But then, the rugged, manly patchouli also tips its hat in the direction of Heritage. Either way, we’re talking purely masculine ground here.
The main difference between this and, say, the Balmain or the Guerlain, is the palpable presence of potent woody ambers that it the stadium-filling reach of modern scents such as Dior’s Sauvage or Prada Luna Rossa. It is important to note, however, that the woody amber has been cleverly dosed so as not to taint the fragrance with the chemical bitterness that mars other scents in this category. Indeed, the aromachemicals imbue the scent with a salty radiance that enhances rather than detracts from its generally wholesome feel.
