Matcha Ice Cream Theodoros Kalotinis 2025

At the opening it's a very rich and sweet gourmand. A heavy buttery waffle cone married to a dense creamy vanilla surrounded by a crisp lime zest and powdery matcha. The matcha is playing very well with the green lime zest. It's making the matcha feel more green. The buttery notes aren't coming off as butyric like others I've tried.

However this changed a lot during the dry down. About 45 minutes in it gets heavier and very thick, especially on skin. The buttery notes in the waffle cone paired with the vanilla take the lead. They become humidly thick to the point where it feels unbalanced and overdone; nauseatingly so. The lime gets pushed back and the matcha is overpowered. It feels like I'm eating a tub of melted ice cream with two sticks of butter on a hot summer day. Unfortunately the dry down is not as good as the opening. What a shame.

Mr Kalotinis is evidently skilled in the field of realistic gourmands and this one is most certainly a hit for me! The lime cuts through the sweetness allowing it to be enjoyable without the cloying nature of dense realistic dessert like fragrances tend to have. It reminds me of a lovely day out, seated outdoors whilst enjoying a matcha soft-serve topped a gentle zest of lime served on a gourmet waffle-cone. Love it!

I wrote a long, mostly negative review of this a few months ago when I first tested it. Then I edited it a month later to say that I did come to enjoy this and ended up purchasing a 9ml decant. Then I edited *again* another month later to say how much this has truly grown on me and decided to just scrap everything I said and start fresh.

I really like this scent. Surprisingly so, because the first time I sprayed my sample, I was extremely put off. I expected sweet matcha ice cream and was hit with a blast of tart lime for about 15min, which was not the vibe I was expecting.

However, this dried down into a sweet, citrusy waffle cone scent. I detect basically no matcha whatsoever, so the name is not it, but this scent is really quite good! The more I wear it, the more I like it. I had it on all day today and was surprised that I could smell whiffs of this for nearly 6 hours on my t-shirt - the first time I tested it, I gave it low scores for longevity and sillage but I take it back!

I think this one will wear well in the warmer months, and I'm excited to keep wearing in into the spring. It's incredibly unique - I've never smelled anything else like it - and really scratches a particular itch when the mood strikes to wear it.
