I have a bottle of
The Ghost in the Shell for this reason. I almost sold it because I wasn’t wearing it but I realized that there are days when my mood is “no mood” and I just want to cyborg my way through the day. Ghost in the Shell does not disappoint. The marketing copy is delightful or annoying (depending on your preference) and can influence how the fragrance feels for the wearer. To the uninformed, it’s a pleasant plasticy-body wash with hints of citrus, milk, and metal—cyborg/skin-like and compulsively sniffable like a 80s vinyl toy.
I find it remarkably absent of any obvious emotion on the surface which allows me to feel safely hidden from the world.
Another worth sniffing is
Neandertal Them. It’s an altogether different sense of futurity. It’s hard to describe as the notes don’t quite convey the feeling of it. It’s distant and futuristic, sparsely populated and a little haunted. A leathery skin scent with florals so soft that they don’t feel particularly floral, more like the ghost of something moving past.
