How many sprays do you normally wear?

I know this probably depends on the fragrance, but I'm curious what everyone's usual routine is.

Are you a 2–3 spray person, or do you like a lot more? Has that changed since you first got into perfumes?

1-3 is a test, 4-10 is a wear. I'll go a little lighter at times depending on fragrance, mood, or context.

It depends, some fragrances are very strong and 2 3 sprays are enough, for some others I need up to 12 15. But in general I'm not an oversprayer.

Depends on the fragrance and time of year, but on average I spray 4 times. One on each forearm, one on the back of my neck, and one on the chest area of my shirt. 

2 usually. I truly am an undersprayer most of the time. I can go up to 5 with some things, especially light body mists (I simply reapply more often). I enjoy some heavy hitters, and I adore being scented, but I'm actually quite a sensitive person and I'm easily overwhelmed.

Of what? Vanilla Powder Eau de Parfum or Let the Good Times Roll or other beasts? 3 sprays.

Some weak citrus? 5-10 at least, it will disappear in 5 minutes anyway. Looking at you, Super Fairy .

I also layer so I end up with more sprays overall.

I love how everyone is so conservative here!! No one is doing 50 sprays - minimum - like the TikTok influencers! I’m actually shocked. 😂 Just kidding.

I used to overspray when I first started my fragrance journey, but that quickly causes nose blindness. So, if I’m testing something, I usually do 1–2 sprays so I can catch more nuances. For regular wear, I’d say 5–6 sprays is pretty normal for me. I might go crazy with body mists and do 10 sprays. 😂

I’ll also sometimes layer 5 sprays of one fragrance with 2 sprays of another, or do lotion + body mist + perfume. That’s a lot, but I do it occasionally. Oh, and I actually like dabbers, including dabber sample vials (unpopular opinion, I know! 😂)... I tend to smell the scent more clearly that way and don’t go nose-blind as quickly.

For me, it’s 4 sprays to the neck in all cardinal directions, then right chest left chest. Double for EDTs or summer citruses, half for super potent synthetic forever molecules like Molecule 04! So I guess that makes it 3, 6, or 12 sprays

As you say, I think it really does depend on the fragrance, and also the setting. My choice of fragrance is always dictated by the weather (the temperature mainly), the setting, the time of day, and finally, by my mood. 

Something like ADP's original Colonia or Eau Sauvage (the original EdT), for examples, I'd spray on each wrist, back of neck and two or three times under my shirt, even in a work environment. Whereas, something like Argos' Triumph Of Bacchus only needs two sprays in my opinion, even for a crowded setting. 

I hardly wear anything else than Infusion d'Iris (2015) Eau de Parfum (nothing else seems to please me anymore since owning it ) and it is known for causing noseblindness easily and for it to be a light scent: I use one spray on my upper chest and collarbones and one spray on my back, making sure some will land on my clothes.

The funny thing is that it is very, very strong on certain materials like leather (my bag smells of it, wafting the scent), waterresistant material (my raincoat smells of Infusion d'Iris asif I sprayed a whole bottle on it) and wood (it clings to my desk after I've been sitting there). So I still want to order some leather bracelets with maybe some wooden beads and see how it works if I spray those and wear them...I came up with that thought some time ago, but been too busy searching for them.

Call me crazy, but I love this scent so much, I simply have to find a way of smelling it all day, lol .

4-6 sprays during hotter days. 3-5 during winter.

Depends on the fragrance but like 1-2, on different areas of the body (one always on the collar, the other either on the back of the legs [usually this], or somewhere on my forearms)

Usually I spray 4-5, but if it's a strong fragrance not more than 3.

There are also exceptions for some light citrus scent like Nice Bergamote Eau de Parfum which I love it but I overspray it

Lol for real, overspraying is so normalised on tiktok; i saw someone who actually did ~60 sprays! Even if creators are playing it up for engagement, i feel like it's going to influence viewers into thinking that's what they should be doing. RIP to those stuck in enclosed spaces with them 😕

I most often do four sprays, one in each elbow ditch and then one on each forearm. I find its far enough away that I can catch wiffs of the smell without going nose blind. If its really hot I may do the backs of my shoulders as well, sometimes behind my knees.

I’m a 2-3 spray person, but it depends on the fragrance. Some are 1 spray - Safran Secret or 05 - Un Samedi à Paris and some are 6-8 sprays like Philosykos Eau de Toilette or Aqua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria.

I don’t do 10 or more sprays out of respect for other people who have sensitive noses.

4-6 sprays depending on how strong the scent is. Some fragrances will absolutely drench you and they are very strong on top of that, I've had to transfer a couple to travel atomizers, otherwise more than one spray would be considered olfactory war crime. I'm looking at you YSL.

Depends on the perfume. If it is very light I use it more heavily and also do a walk through to capture my clothing. 

3 to 5 sprays in the morning, and then again in the afternoon in summer.  3 generally if I'm just wearing one fragrance, 4-5 if I'm layering (which I do about half of the time.)  I like light florals and citrus this time of year, and I'm lucky if I get them to last about 5 hours.  

However......if I'm wearing Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, I'm going ham like I'm an influencer getting paid by the spritz, because it just doesn't stick around.  

Only one I like to smell subtly 

For strong fragrance like Cuoium / Ombre NomadeTerroniMegamare : 3 to 4 sprays

For weaker fragrances like Encre Noire Eau de ToiletteEncre Noire à L'ExtrêmeImaginationBergamask 6 to 8 sprays.

The perfect number of sprays is when people can smell you around 1 meter IF YOU DON'T MOVE. Either it's too much and it becomes inelegant.

Something super strong like Gaultier Divine Le Parfum or Valentino Donna Born In Roma Extradose generally only gets one spray on the back of the neck. Moderate fragrances typically get a spray front and back of neck and one on each arm. Very light fragrances get five to ten depending on where I’m going and who I’m with.

I've always been a "be discovered, not announced" kind of wearer, but I'm finding that lately, I'm wanting to project a tiny bit more. Given all the variables, its been an exploration to determine right number of sprays for a given season, situation and fragrance. I probably wind up with around 2 or 3 sprays, but some only get 1, and a few might get 5 or 6.  I'd still rather err on the side of skin scent than scent blaster!
