A perfume that doesn't want to be one
(Old version) If you are looking for a "vetiver", you may be looking in the wrong place. The nowadays rather popular derivative vetiveryl acetate, chemically produced from nature, is not to be found. Guerlain used to have a convincing version with this substance, but today, after time adjustments, it is also clearly flattened and thin.
Vetyver' is about vetiver in its two main variants, Bourbon and Java. One is radiantly woody and clean, the other is musty and dirty. This runs from top to bottom. The simplicity is the program. Nothing is complicated, you think. The base appears after just 8 hours with a beautiful chocolatey accord of java and sandalwood that greets the day in the morning. In the middle section, there is a slight reduction in the coriander compared to the very first new edition. It was almost too thick before. As a result, the perfume can also be seen as a very prosaic wardrobe fragrance that has been transferred to the laundry, for which vetiver was often used. Very simple, always works and is loved in its clearly unique way, see above, the base accord.
So far, I have found nothing that equals it in concentration, serenity and roundness.
