Green old school Cool Water
Discovered a new La Rive at DM on Thursday evening. Sprayed the fragrance on a test strip and took it into the car. Smelled it again and again while driving on Friday. Still like the scent. Saturday spontaneously stopped at DM and bought the fragrance.
At first I didn't know exactly what the fragrance reminded me of. But a previous reviewer enlightened me. It's the smell of old school Cool Water with a hint of green notes. Maybe a little more herbaceous....
For just under 8 euros, you get a pleasing DNA that's great for spring and summer and you can't go wrong with it.

Cool Water, the way it used to smell
Distant Wave by the Polish company La Rive reminds me of the old Cool Water in the original formulation by Pierre Bourdon, before it was made into a "fresh, maritime and green" but very synthetic-smelling perfume for whatever reason.
DW is much grassier, fresher, more natural and also a touch more maritime than CW, but also much more alcoholic on the nose and less pronounced overall. Well, the price difference has to come from somewhere, and it's certainly not just the brand name that you pay for with CW. Olfactorily, CW is much more intense and lasts longer, which should come as no surprise, as it is the EdT DW competing against the EdP CW.
But for the price of around €6.50/100 ml EdT, DW is an absolute bargain, reminiscent of the old CW in its scent and therefore a real recommendation for lovers of old-fashioned fragrances - the original, Creed Green Irish Tweed, dates back to 1985, was also created by Pierre Bourdon and is now considered a classic among men's fragrances.

Recovery in a bottle
I created this account just to write this review.

Distant Wave feels like freshly laundered, cool linen sheets on a summer night.
Like a cool shower after the sauna, like a dip in the lake after a day in the sun.
Like a frosty sunrise in winter, or a long-awaited sip of water after hard work. Like a cool breeze from the sea when you seek shelter from the heat in the shade under the trees.

I am really fascinated by this fragrance.
No hint of sweet, dull heaviness, no undertone that smells like anxious sweat, no oppressive, suffocating notes, nothing like that.

It's like waking up after a restful sleep, full of energy and confidence for the new day.

And if that wasn't praise enough:
I recently visited my parents for several days and my mom was quite surprised "What always smells so good here?" - "Me with my €6 Polish perfume!"
Well, if that doesn't say it all, I don't know what does.

Clone Wars drugstore
a little recession...

tested these three "cheap" cool water twins...
Aspen for Men Cologne
Absolute Blue
and this one Distant Wave

i have to admit i find it extremely difficult to tell them apart in a blind fragrance test, they all smell 95% like the OLD original! but I noticed that Distant Wave has the longest shelf life! The Aspen and the Absolut Blue are only perceptible from very close after an hour...
The Distant Wave even lasts 2 hours :D
each lasts about 3-4 hours on clothing...

i think all three are better than the current original Cool water! since the h/S of the current original is also very bad, you can also go straight for the twins and save money and the twins come closer to the original Cool Water from back then because they are all greener/mossier!
the old cool water was more similar to the green Irish tweed from creed!

For the swimming pool, gym, sports or beach I find these cheap things very good because you don't smell after the water/sweat anyway... you can then use something intense after showering without smelling like cool water because it just doesn't stick to your skin for 12 hours...

Am I standing in the forest here?
The lady needed a refill of her new favorite from the drugstore and since it would be unfair if she got something and I didn't, I quickly picked up a small affordable one. As the last purchases were a citrusy Freshie and an aquatic Freshie, this time the choice fell on a green Freshie. And well, here we are!

Fragrance:
First things first: I'm not a professional, I'm just a run-of-the-mill perfume lover. If I remember the original Cool Water correctly, this one is "greener" in comparison. Still nice and clean and fresh. More like a clear spring in a pine forest, if I wanted to put it metaphorically. And I find it strikingly less synthetic. Fits!

Longevity:
At least on a par with the original. Can really do something for a fresh fragrance. Chapeau.

Sillage:
Initially quite present. After 1-2 hours a little more subtle but still perceptible. Fits, especially for the price.

Flacon:
I like the bottle. Nice and simple, great color. The cap and sprayer are rather functional.

Price/performance:
For 7,50€ / 100ml absolute no-brainer. And lovers of the original should also give it a try. Crystal clear recommendation.

Quite good Cool Water knock-off, but more alcoholic and synthetic when freshly sprayed on and more subtle when dried down.
