THE ONE! FINALLY!

As a big fan of the Le Gemme - Tygar DNA, I am, of course, familiar with all the alternatives that the market has to offer today. However, with some of these variants, something just never quite fit for me:

With Rosso Pompei, it was the strict woody undertone; with Vibrato, it was the overly synthetic and completely overpowering floral notes that gave me headaches in the heat; with Aqua de Dora, it was the developing dryness in the drydown; and with Le Gemme - Tygar, it was the longevity and simply the completely unjustified price.

It seems that this new fragrance combines only the best components from all these variants. For me, it’s an incredibly rounded, fruity-fresh, almost tangy and invigorating olfactory experience that accompanies me and those around me all day without being intrusive. It embodies good mood and positivity in a bottle, which can be worn by absolutely anyone, is liked by everyone, and still brings a distinctive uniqueness.

Compared to the mentioned alternatives, this fragrance offers an incredibly worthwhile price-performance ratio, which easily catapults it to the top spot among fragrances of this DNA.

A very strong release from WIDIAN! This will be my summer signature for the upcoming summer. I already can’t get enough!

You Found Me!

There are some scents that we are introduced to as children we never forget! Hot summer days, the bubbles and fizz tickling our nostrils as we open an ice cold Ginger Ale! You found me as an adult and I am so thankful! Yes, Widian Ginger takes me back to my childhood and I love the simplicity and the direction of the perfumer Hamid Merati-Kashani on this frangrance! Longevity is stellar. Worth a serious nose dive.

Widian can also do fresh fragrances! I Comparison with other fragrances

Widian has already convinced me with several fragrances; "London | Widian / AJ Arabia", Aswan and other bestsellers such as Sahara have shaped the brand very well. Often, however, the brand has rather "heavy" fragrances or rather cold-weather fragrances except for a few newer ones that cover such intermediate phases.

With Ginger, Widian has taken a big step towards fresh fragrances, why? Let's get into it!

- The Ginger starts with a wonderful citrus explosion, really juicy bergamot and lemon create a tingling feeling with the slightly spicy ginger! Under the surface, something slightly green emerges from the magnolia, and a slight sweetness from the violet, but all still in a fresh context with the citrus.

- The fragrance then gains a woody-earthy creaminess in the drydown, but don't be alarmed, the fragrance does not become creamy, this citrusy-woody note still predominates, just a little creamier.

- The longevity is brilliant, I don't expect more from a freshie, solid really. The performance is also really good in terms of projection, top at the beginning, then rather skin-like, but we know that from other Freshies (would have awarded 7.5 for projection, but unfortunately I can't).

Now to the exciting question, how does the fragrance compare with other Freshies?
- Ginger has a similar top note to Afternoon Swim , Aqua de Dora , and Mahina , Le Gemme - Tygar and Vibrato. Yes, they all share this fresh citrusy opening, so let's compare them to these fragrances initially.

- in my opinion, Afternoon Swim is very similar overall, except that the citrus in Ginger is a little more lively and ingenious and the fragrance also performs far better. The Widian also has a little floral-creamy twist here.

- Vibrato and Ginger have a similar opening, but the Vibrato becomes much more powdery in the drydown and does not go in the minimal woody-creamy-floral direction of the Widian. After a few minutes, there are already clear differences after the opening

- The Aqua de Dora has a similarly fresh opening, but not as sparkling. In addition, the Aqua de Dora goes in a different direction in the drydown with this clearly perceptible chestnut note and the generally dry, woody DNA.

- The Le Gemme - Tygar has a more elegant citric and an ambrox-based woodiness to my nose in the drydown, yes similar, but it too lacks that floral-creamy-woody DD that defines the Ginger.

In this respect, Ginger is quite unique if you know the fragrances in detail and can smell these nuances. I personally like this impact in connection with the performance; at the moment at least, Ginger is the clear favorite from this comparison.

I didn't include Rosso Pompei in the comparison because it is simply too penetrating, even if it goes in a similar direction with the citrus at the beginning, but the difference is already greater in my perception.

Well, definitely worth a test!

brilliant summerfreshie - but I don't understand the hype

I've read so much about Ginger here that I really wanted to try it in the hope of finally finding my ultimate summer favorite. What can I tell you: yes, Ginger is a great summer fragrance, but I can't understand the hype!

Ginger starts fresh, citrusy and spicy, which I really liked at first. However, I also immediately thought of Renaissance by Xerjoff, because it comes pretty close. After the start, it becomes beautifully green and woody. What I personally didn't like so much was the "creaminess", which is very reminiscent of Renaissance.

It's quite a masculine fragrance, which I don't see on a woman (sorry).

You can wear the Ginger from spring to fall (the temperature should always be above 10°), then the Ginger fits almost everywhere, both in the office and in leisure time to sports, everything is possible.

I don't think the H/S is nearly as strong as it was rated. Okay for a freshie, but I wouldn't want to certify it for longer than 6 hours.

Repulsive acceptance

Maybe it's because of my difficult relationship with my father, who knows.

Ginger is a fragrance that doesn't suit me at all. But I'm still glad to have tested it.

It starts with a pungent cloud of herbs, biting on the nose, with old-school characteristics. It reminds me of old fragrances, of my father, of old men, right from the start. I'm not criticizing old men, I'm just criticizing the fragrance, and I would rather see it at 50+, not 30 and down.

Not too much happens as the fragrance progresses. It becomes softer, but still retains the note of old men who like to wear perfume, the old stuff, patchouli, fresh, but somehow bitter / sour in the background. Unspectacular, you simply already know this fragrance, be it from your parents, from your grandparents, it's just so established and absolutely not strange, you just don't smell anything new or interesting here.

I wish I could say more here, but after several hours there is simply nothing more to say. Simple, old-fashioned, you've smelled it a thousand times. I would almost say that it has that acrid top note of Ambassador in it, just not exactly the same. If you don't like Ambassador, you probably won't like this fragrance too much either. Ambassador, however, is MUCH more intrusive in its bitingly aggressive chemo top note, which is not the case here.

Unfortunately, it also lasts zero. I know how well fragrances last on my skin, I can smell Xerjoff fragrances penetratingly on my skin for hours. This fragrance fades very quickly within an hour and is only slightly perceptible. Maybe that's why I simply don't have a meaningful rating, simply because it can hardly perform.

In short:

I don't think it's terrible, no - but I just find it incredibly unspectacular and hackneyed. This is the kind of Freshie that doesn't have a stereotypical soapy scent, it's the kind of Freshie that is simply bitter and sour, and you already know it from everywhere.

A no-go for me, but I think my old mom would like it, it will certainly be a ladykiller for 60+.
