Berries on Woods
For berry lovers, a must!

Oriental, yet juicy and woody. The black pepper gives it the right amount of spiciness and cinammon makes it just perfect and unique.

You will rarely smell it on others since it’s not (yet) popular enough. A very good blend with oud.

As always, Jordi Fernandez delivering class.

Ojar Infusion Velours - the anti-Moon.
I had a 100ml bottle of Frederic Malle's The Moon, and while I enjoyed it quite a bit, I was very wary of wearing it around other people. Upon sampling it initially from a small vial, I wasn't quite sure as applying it on a concentrated spot, often the case with a non-spray sample, brought some negative comments from others. I found spraying it once I purchased a full bottle worked much better, opening it up and letting it evolve/blossom, BUT.... I never cared for the overly sweetness of it. It was too much, too soon, and it lingered for a while before delving into the mid notes.

Flash forward to Ojar infusion Velours. I'm calling it the anti-Moon in the sense that it has some of the same notes, but the blackberry and raspberry here are so well blended with the darker notes that it is, upon initial impression, easier to wear, if not perhaps more enjoyable to this nose. It doesn't necessarily smell like The Moon, either, which is a good thing, its overall approach is a bit less syrupy and perhaps a tad more light/ethereal, but make no mistake - this has a nice balance of both worlds, along with some zesty black pepper and cinnamon, which will probably draw people closer than repel.

It's a much smoother, appealing wear overall without giving one a toothache while providing just enough smokiness from the Frankincense to give it that "I only come out at night" vibe. It fits somewhere between The Moon and Gissah's Modern Heritage, which is a much fresher and a zestier blend of oud, raspberry, and spices, with all three of them outstanding in their own right. Though I haven't worn this one in public yet, Modern Heritage did result in a guy flagging me down in the local Walmart, telling me he was a fragrance collector and had to know what I was wearing, that it was the best thing he'd ever smelled. I have a feeling Infusion Velours may garner the same type of response.

As a side note, the bottle featured in the photo is the 15ml travel size, not the full bottle.

'Oud & Red Fruits

Infusion Velours Eau De Parfum from the Arab House of Perfumery Niche Haute Luxury Ojar from the Sultanate of Oman is an Oriental Woody Fruity Spicy Smoky Unisex perfume. It was released in 2022; and the nose that signs this fragrance is Jordi Fernández. Infusion Velours is a fragrance that captures the essence of seduction through an olfactory dance between east and west.
This perfume announces itself with the promise of an incredible multisensory experience. The coolness intertwines with the warmth, creating a fascinating contrast that awakens the senses and enchants those around you.
Infusion Velours is an olfactory experience that deals with contrasts and dualities.

This aromatic journey begins with a vibrant blend, where the strong, spicy hint of pepper meets the warm, sweet spice of cinnamon, harmoniously intertwined with the deep, contrasting sweet, tart richness of the blackberry, and revealing a layer with the fresh sweetness of a juicy raspberry, perfectly bridging the gap with the luxurious, complex depths of a smoky leathery woody oud. A woody dry cedar with an earthy patchouli adds to the woody vibe of the fragrance. All wrapped in a steaming infusion of the purest and most crystalline Hojari Incense, the jewel of Oman, reinforcing the sense of depth. Perfume is very good, but nothing new, nothing that hasn't been done before a few times.

I perceive Infusion Velours designed for those looking for a fragrance that is easy to please and without challenges, with clear influences from the opulence of Arabic perfumery with the elegance of French perfumery, a sophisticated fusion of 'oud with red fruits. In my view, this composition incorporates a versatility that makes it appealing to a wide range of tastes. The combination of classic and modern elements in its composition allows it to work on different occasions, both in casual and formal environments, night or daytime and for intermediate seasons and temperatures. A warm, woody, fruity, spicy, leathery, smoky perfume. It's A Delicious Perfume With Great Performance!

Heavy but pleasing!
Sometimes this YouTube influencer thing can be really enriching and broaden your horizons. For example, I became aware of this fragrance through the red-haired Kai, who is well known in the scene, and a simple short clip, which I am very happy about. Luckily, when I look at the rating figures here, the hype train, which is often so full of hype, just missed the fragrance, or only took it one stop. As a result, it still has enough of a rarity character, and noticing it on another individual in the wild outside a fragrance fair is like hitting the jackpot.

As for the fragrance itself, to mention the tiresome YouTube again, Scent Jay, who deserves more attention, has found the right words. "The scent pushed me off my chair".

I get a perfectly interwoven mix of the fragrance notes listed here. Blackberry, raspberry, incense, cinnamon and oud are the dominant components for my nose. The fruit notes have been stripped of their prickly acidity and are more like perfectly processed dried fruits that present themselves as round, soft and velvety. The sweetness is present but never overpowering. In my opinion, the perfect balance of mass appeal and olfactory harmony has been found here.

The oud note interwoven here is subtle and therefore pleasing. The cowshed gives way to a cozy, atmospheric attic made of high-quality wood, in a time-honored villa. This association comes to mind with the wood/oud note used here.

The cinnamon and pepper make the fragrance spicy without being overpowering.
Where a Spicebomb Extreme in the opening can rather lead to fits of nausea (don't get me wrong - in my opinion, Viktor&Rolf's outstanding fragrance), this one is rather cozy and gentle in terms of spiciness, almost warming and grounding.

The incense in combination with the oud and berry fruits gives the fragrance a pleasant degree of smokiness and leatheriness, which greatly enhances its depth.
The smoke is not scratchy but sublime, the leather note for me like finely embalmed precious suede.
Where other raspberry oud leather fragrances ala Widian London to Tuscan Leather tend to quote shiny black Domina smooth leather, Infusion Velour goes the way of the expensive brown horse saddle.

All in all, a heavy yet pleasing mixture that has been created here.

Applicability? I see the fragrance as quite versatile, applied discreetly even for the office, up to a party, date or cozy at home, if you simply want to create a pleasant aura around you through a great fragrance experience. However, I would place it more in the cool season of fall to winter.
I think it is such a well-rounded fragrance that it is definitely unisex. I see a tendency here towards masculine, but a self-confident lady, whether stylish, bossy, edgy, sexy or wicked, can apply this fragrance just as perfectly without it seeming even slightly out of place.

In terms of performance, I would place the fragrance in the upper mid-range. 6-7 hours of perceptibility, of which the first 3-4 form a stylishly clear sillage (3 sprays).

Is it worth the exorbitant price? Everyone has to decide for themselves.
I personally believe that no fragrance, no matter how high quality it is advertised, has to be so expensive.

I am therefore pleased with Ojar's policy, which I hope will serve as a model for many other niche houses, of also offering fragrances in attractive small bottles. That way you don't become poor straight away, and the 15ml will easily last for several years if you own 10 20 30 fragrances or more, unless you tend to use it every day because of the beauty of this olfactory presentation. I save it for special days and occasions. Because I don't want to be pushed off my chair by a fragrance every day

A magic bowl full of jelly
Streaks of sweet jellies of selected dark berries,
Swirls of cinnamon and pepper floating dry through the air.

Thick raspberries and blackberries shimmer through the syrup,
I spoon with pleasure, I won't worry about calories.

But what is this wondrous, sweet food?
It does not come to an end, no matter how quickly and how much I eat.

New berries appear again and again, as if by magic,
But not to my discomfort, my berry land of milk and honey.

The magic seems to emanate from the bowl of jelly,
made from dry cedar and smoked by the incense fairy.

It is decorated with the letters OUD, sparkling golden in the light,
but may I be forgiven, unfortunately the bowl is not made of this.

And because I can't help it, I take it with me into my bath,
And keep on spooning while I relax in the gentle soap lather.

Fin.

___________

With Infusion Velours, I now turn to my second candidate from the Ojar oud collection. As with Stallion Soul Eau de Parfum, I can say one thing straight away - unfortunately, it's not an oud again. But let's start at the beginning. The central theme of the fragrance is ripe, dark and above all sweet berries. More specifically, the focus is on raspberries and blackberries. This theme runs through from the opening to the drydown. Although the selected berries appear slightly synthetic, they score with a balanced sweetness and a pleasant acidity profile. Very quickly, dry swirls of pepper and cinnamon ensnare the potpourri of berries and lend it more and more the character of a dessert. This is also reinforced in the minimal transformation of the berry accord to a jelly-like texture and smell. Gradually, cool wafts of incense cloud the overall impression and fine woody accords flash through from time to time in the background. Although these have dark facets, I cannot identify any oud by far. What made me suspicious during all the tests, however, is that after some time, a subtle note of bath foam seems to shimmer through. I can't quite explain this, but it made the fragrance completely reminiscent of a work by Montale - Oud Dream. All in all, Infusion Velours is a well-made, quite linear, oriental fragrance with a focus on sweet berries, cool incense and a few woods, which scores with a beautiful sillage and pronounced pleasantness.
