Limited CK-One Cloning
With X-Limited, one can easily imagine what was thought and wished for back then at Etienne Aigner: to ride a bit on the success wave of Calvin Klein's CK One. After all, that was the quintessential unisex fragrance in the mid-90s, equally well-worn and affordable by both men and women, which cannot be said of every fragrance.
So, a refresher like this had to be added to the brand's portfolio, which until then had not made any major olfactory missteps.
The satin-finished bottle with the silver cap is also meant to visually remind one of the American original, without being seen as a copy. However, in terms of content, the cloning is anything but successful. X-Limited smells of cheap synthetic ingredients, at best one can detect a dull lemon.
In the background, there is a minimally spicy, slightly bitter base, reminiscent of skin creams.
The rest of the notes are more wishful thinking - and I really don’t know why these notes appear larger here. Actually, everything should be listed in tiny print.
Although X-Limited is still relatively wearable on days when one is blessed with a lot of tolerance, one feels like someone who got their CK One from shady characters at a flea market, just to save a few euros.
Everything has its limits - and here they become apparent!
