Unexpected and stunning

Overture Woman was a surprise with its apple brandy opening. It is sweeter than many of the other classic Amouage women's fragrances, but still sophisticated, complex, and not over the top. Saffron, bergamot and apple are the top notes. The saffron and bergamot fade quickly, leaving a realistic apple brandy. Soon a gorgeous jammy rose and resins emerge, along with a hint of something almost like cotton candy. Then I detect leather and frankincense in the drydown. A hint of apple continues. Overture Woman is composed of quite an unusual series of notes, but they play very well together. The realistic apple brandy and sugary candy note don't quite tip this into gourmand territory for me, and that's a good thing, but we are gourmand adjacent here. I would categorize Overture Woman together with my old favorites Chopard Casmir and Burberry for Women which also straddle gourmand and amber, with lovely, not-too-juvenile boozy fruity notes.

Boozy, resinous and leathery in an abstract way

Most of older Amouages are complex and multifaceted and Overture Woman is in that same level. So many different traits are sweetly mixed in the scent. At first it amazes you with its bold and enigmatic side, it’s like a big mystery. It’s like a magic wand which put a spell on you and you don’t understand straight away what has happened.

Overture Man is full of very realistic notes and personally Overture woman has been somewhat abstract to my nose since the beginning. It’s delicious and almost syrupy but still it’s not edible. It clearly reminds me of fruity apples and has boozy vibe in it but I have never tasted Calvados which has this kind of aroma. I mean this is utterly irresistible and I’m not a good friend with Calvados. Together with the elegance of Saffron in the opening it seamlessly combines with warmth and sophistication from the heart where Benzoin, Myrrh and Cinnamon create a golden aura and a subtle rosy touch offers a tiny hint of feminine elegance. Leathery base with Labdanum and Amouage's signature Incense is seductive and completes the fragrance as a completely unisex. The whole concoction is rich, polished and refined, everything in it intertwines perfectly. The scent is like a beautiful melody that lingers in your head even after the music itself has stopped. It is unforgettable.

Like Overture Man, Overture Woman truly shines during the festive season and especially during Christmas time.

The longevity is great, around 8 hours and the sillage is strong.

rosey resins

This beautiful fragrance opens fruity. I am not familiar with Brandy so cannot confirm that profile but it is not the typical fruit opening. That may be the because of the brandy note. There is an edge of bubble-gummy sweetness that is likely more noticeable if over sprayed. I would not recommend that. The opening is where I most associate it with feminine but this is a unisex fragrance. That sweetness is fleeting on my skin and becomes Rosey within 5 mins.

The mid is my favorite portion of the experience. Rose supporting a beautiful sweet, resinous incense. They interplay really well. The rose with its subtle greenness combined with Benzoin sweetness and the Labdanum base is quite alluring. They are well balanced, accentuating facets of each to make a distinct but integrated scent experience. The rose and incense remind me of Majalis by Spirit of Dubai. Side by side, Majalis comes across more shisha/fruity hookah tobacco where Overture is resinous. The rose and benzoin sweetness is what rings familiar.

When the top of the pyramid has faded, the resinous labdanum and frankincense is what remains. You can appreciate how the benzoin and rosey mid notes, and the fruity opening were built upon the base to create the full experience. I don’t sense all the previous notes, but I can tell what the top of the pyramid was meant to build upon at the base. In that way, it smells familiar but not the same.

I find this a very comforting scent. Perfect for dates where close encounters are on the menu. It is not a traditional “sexy” scent, though it is alluring. It is an intellectual sex appeal (TF tobacco oud is an example of carnel sex appeal.) Think conversations with intimate, lingering eye contact. This will absolutely amplify those moments. It is that lovely sweet spot of diffusive enough to draw people in, but not so dense you have to keep your distance. The closer they get, the more they will feel hugged by the warm cloud of introspective and comforting incense resins, with an inviting rose stimulating curiosity . As the wearer, you will be blanketed in a loving aura of rose laced benzoin and labdanum for hours. I will definitely wear for nights and rainy days I stay in.

It is not overly complex, nor is it linear. Overall, it is a well balanced fragrance. Fall/winter for sure. Spring evenings could work. Summer, eh, probably not. But wear what you love when you want. A good Easter scent.

Application: 3 sprays (Chest, Wrist, waist/hip level). Going out, I would add a fourth on the back of my neck.

Brothers, do not be afraid of this one!!!

As a man, Overture Woman wears beautifully unisex. It has a boozy apple note, saffron, and the smoky leather feels bold, dark, and luxurious on my skin.

It has strong projection, easily filling a room in the first few hours, and leaves a noticeable scent trail. Longevity is excellent too, typically 8–12 hours, making it a powerful statement scent that lasts all night.

Not blind buy safe!!!!

I paid $166 USD for a 100ml bottle on Olfactory LLC.

Alcoholic Sparkling

Definitely a very interesting, complex, multifaceted, and layered fragrance!
You will always perceive it differently, and every day it will reveal new notes to you.
After the first breath, I thought it was something familiar, it had already happened. But how wrong I was. The opening is for me like a delicious apple cider with honey. This fruity note is very complementary to this fragrance, making it playful. Something alcoholic, but with a pleasant scent, not bad at all. Familiar woody and oud notes. Here, the leather is a bit audible. I am very glad that I do not detect the declared cinnamon and spices, which I cannot stand in perfume. Every half hour, listening to the fragrance on commas, it plays for me with new colors, sometimes one note, then another. Definitely a complex composition. Saffron is very mild, not overpowering and not medicinal. But after a few hours, I heard Baccarat Rouge 540. That’s the surprise.
The aroma is very warm, warming in the cold season. Overture stands one hundred percent for winter and autumn, in summer it simply suffocates. The longevity is very good. Very loud. Complementary, I think.
I will definitely buy a full-size bottle.
