The Barking Musk
Here I describe Oud Wa Misk, a fragrance by Berdoues. A brand that has stuck in my memory mainly due to the beautiful tea scent Assam of India in the lovely elephant bottle, and since then I have tried Berdoues fragrances more often. You can see how certain things can influence you.
I bet if a new brand launches and covers the bottle with pictures of cute kittens (or dogs, or quirky platypuses, which by the way are among the rare egg-laying mammals (the others of this kind are the echidnas), just a little trivia here!), then you surely won't forget such bottles quickly and will be curious about more fragrances from the brand. Isn't it the same for you? Yes, I thought so! :D
So here I am, after testing several fragrances from this brand, now as mentioned coming to Oud Wa Misk, so Oud and Musk. You can probably guess what this fragrance is about, but it certainly seems thematically fitting for the cold season right now!
A little later, the animalic notes appear. I specifically write animalic notes, as these are actually the musk, which alongside the familiar musk scent also radiate a special, more robust note or sharpness, making the musk seem "more animalic" than usual, and thus somewhat reminiscent of the scent projection of civet, for example. However, in my opinion, it is not disturbing (I mention this because not many seem to like this type of animalic notes), as it is softened by the frankincense as mentioned.
In the background, the indicated patchouli can be smelled. An earthy scent, which you can mostly smell only when you are close to the source, in this case, the sprayed skin area. In the scent cloud, you mainly perceive Oud, and above all, the musk, which as mentioned smells more animalic than usual.
As might be expected from some Berdoues fragrances, this scent is actually not very complex, so you can smell relatively few fragrance notes, which, however, scent almost unchanged over a longer period, meaning you mainly smell musk and oud in the later base, which smell almost the same as at the beginning of the fragrance. And that’s about it.
The longevity is quite good, the scent lasts just under ten hours and maybe a little longer.
So, I find this scent okay. Not incredibly spectacular, not so great that you must try it, but also not horrifically bad that you would want to run away from it. Perhaps it will find its lovers who want musk to be a bit more animalic, but who also quite like oud.
The scent is, as already described, very simple, as the mentioned two fragrance notes are actually the only ones here that radiate almost unchanged over a longer period. By type, it is an autumn and winter scent, which in my opinion is more suitable for the day, as it does not smell nice enough or spectacular enough for going out.
You don’t need to test it, as mentioned, but that’s up to you, as there are surely some enthusiasts who just have to stick their noses into everything, and this is no joke, I know a few who would actually love to try every fragrance in the world and at small gatherings even drag me into every store that offers even a single bottle… *sigh* :D
And with that, I have reached the end and wish you a lovely evening! :)

The Scent:
At the beginning, you smell Oud. Not sharp, not annoying, but a nice Oud with a distinctly perceivable, soft-resinous note, which is the frankincense. There is a little sweetness present, which I find quite nice, seemingly coming from the musk (only a little later you realize that the sweetness indeed comes from the musk). The Sillage and Longevity:
The projection is good. You can smell it well on someone, as it leaves a scent cloud, and the fragrance is, if you overdo it with the spraying, also somewhat filling the room. The longevity is quite good, the scent lasts just under ten hours and maybe a little longer.
The Bottle:
The bottle initially has the basic shape of most Berdoues bottles. It is tall, rectangular, but with rounded edges and is thin. In the inner glass wall, you can see a motif or pattern that appears appropriately oriental. For me, it is not the most beautiful bottle of the brand, but it is by no means ugly. Moreover, it feels good in the hand. Only the cap, which is simply black and cylindrical, seems, as is often the case, a bit hastily made. Well, a nice bottle, but I prefer the elephant bottle more :)So, I find this scent okay.
