Burberry her élixir clone
I discovered this perfume at Printemps Boulevard Haussmann in Paris.

it was part of a reference short list of my brand that I was looking to discover, unfortunately many others are no longer available.

for this one, nothing exceptional, it's a good perfume that smells of a mixture of musk and berries. feminine ideal for mid-season, I find a lot of similarity with the burberry for her elixir released last year.

except that this one costs twice as much as burberry.

Give me a reason to love you
sings Portishead.
I had chosen everything. Dress, shoes, bag, hairstyle, and then I stood indecisively in front of my perfume collection. No half-measures, I wanted to make a statement. I wanted that Aha effect. Everyone should turn around when I entered the room.

My gaze fell on a small sample that I had sniffed several times but never applied. Taking a risk, a spritz on my wrist. It felt as if someone had thrown me a crisp apple while a dark, cedar-wood voice whispered in my ear: go on, eat it, you want to, or it will be gone... Right before my eyes, the apple transformed into a peach, which split into raspberries and plums, filling an entire fruit basket.
I was intoxicated and sprayed it on my neck, in the back of my knees.
Warm spice calmed my senses without sacrificing the fruits, only to spread the rose scent like a veil over it.
Glorious needs no reason to be loved by me; it is simply there.

Many people came very close to me that night. Some surely also to smell me.

Fruit Purée and Too Many Resins
Victory and then also Glory? They are using grand words in this long-named house. :) And with a lot of fruits. The deep red first raspberry note is overwhelmingly beautiful. Appetizing, with a slightly wild undertone, very pretty! Among the fruit notes, berries are always the most at risk of coming off as artificial, but this one manages quite well, I think. Of course, it is still artificial. :) The cozy jumble of apricot and pineapple, which adds a bit of exotic sorbet feeling, is warm in its character and just barely misses the mark of naturalness. After the first swirl settles, the raspberry transforms into a blackberry, as a firm apple brings a strange sour cloudiness. And when a thick, velvety, slightly vanilla plum jam pours over everything, it starts to get a bit too colorful for me with all these wonderful fruits. There is already a hint of a base that simply has too much in it to be reliable. Remnants of the sweet fruits clash unpleasantly with the incense, the overall impression of the fragrance becomes stale, alternating between sweet and bitter, even chlorinated. This strange chlorine note is unpleasantly familiar to me from "Uomo" by Lorenzo Villoresi; it could be the elem resin. Unfortunately, the fact that this is not just a fruity but also a floral fragrance does not come across to me. No trace of a rose, no jasmine in sight. At most, a bit of sweetness that I perceive could come from them. Beneath all that roasted resin and loads of compote, their delicate flowers can hardly breathe. A fragrance that has its beauty but suffers from its overloaded structure.

Fruity Resins
Recently, I have been testing a few (Pure) perfumes from my new favorite brand, Boadicea the Victorious. With this fragrance concentration, one often has to be quite subtle with the sprayer or, as a result, act very confidently. Especially with sample vials, due to the structural lift of the sprayer, this is not always an easy task. While violets and oud were often the focus of recent comments, I now have a true contrast program on my skin with Glorious.

The scent opens fruity, resinous, and anything but shy. Surprisingly and thankfully, I am not greeted with a sticky, jam-like opening, but rather an almost tart fruitiness. It is really difficult to pinpoint the main players from the listed fruit medley. I noticed a semi-ripe peach, a bit of green apple, and pineapple the most. The raspberry has cleverly hidden itself or is simply responsible for tiny aspects of ripeness. As is often the case with Boadicea, the fragrance pyramid should be understood as a hint at a sequence, but not as sharply defined scent worlds.

After about half an hour, the resinous fruit opens up towards underlying floral accords. The rose primarily supports the fruity body, while cardamom skillfully extends the bitter-resinous base mood.

After hours, the amber and wood base increasingly comes through and skillfully captures the harmonies. All with that beautiful BtV twist.

While many (of the Boadiceas I have tested so far) tend to be a bit more angular, Glorious perfectly compensates for that. It is not only absolutely suitable for everyday wear but also a go-to for fans of fruity-resinous-woody scents. Glorious is easy to dose and, with over 8 hours on me, also long-lasting for a workday, without causing any issues. One tends to receive compliments instead.

Now that my sample is empty, a bottle will soon be joining my collection. :)

Bravo Traube
I admit, I had to Google my association with Boadicea's Glorious. But then I quickly found the board game from my childhood that this scent reminds me of: Bravo Traube!
I hope I'm not the only one who knows and loved it. And two times a sigh of relief, because first, it's not that bad if you don't know it, and second, the scent doesn't smell like play dough. In the game, you built grapes out of play dough and hopped over a game board, while traps squashed, stomped, or rolled over the play dough grapes. Delightful!

What does all this have to do with a luxury perfume like Glorious? Well, if you were to play out this childhood memory with real grapes, plums, and fruits, I could well imagine that a Glorious-like scent would come out of it. Squashed, mushy, kneaded, rolled, torn, bitten, ground fruits of all kinds. I've rarely smelled such a compact head note - pure fruits yet strangely synthetic for this price range. But it could also be due to the background under this fruit pulp, as darker, balsamic notes are making their presence felt. Roses, cardamom, patchouli, vanilla, woods... all finely ground and mixed together. A true scent for stirring kings. On one hand, it's nice and something different in the overcrowded fruit genre, but Glorious hasn't completely won me over.

Bottle: they are heavy and beautiful - Bravo Boadicea!
Sillage: squashed fruits veil the wearer.
Longevity: in the middle range for me - 6-8 hours.

For the first Boadicea, not bad, but it still doesn't quite live up to the expectations, the fragrance pyramid, or the price. But I think there is still more to discover with this high-end luxury brand. If I want high-quality fruits, I’ll stick to the old-fashioned Aventus...

Opens raspberry, elemi & musk. In the dry-down, a very boring elemi/incense with a light fruity-musky flank & not much else (lack of depth).

Simple but good and to my tastes, whenever a blurb lines up in retrospect I feel like the perfumier and I are on the same wavelength lol

Fresh-spicy-woody with nutmeg and a cucumber-like fruitiness. In the opening, there's a hint of apple and pineapple, then it leans towards a more masculine barber freshness.

Pineapple stands out from the pleasant fruit salad, later close to wood. Pleasant, flattering, harmonious, yet unobtrusive.

Indeed shallow and predominantly fruity, yet a very airy and pleasant Boadicea with great floral support.

For me, the pyramid is somehow upside down. First comes a lot of wood, then sweetness. And after that, spice. Quite good, but I prefer others -

Delicious fruit salad, spiced with cardamom + nutmeg. Served on soft + warm wood. But the metallic roses disturb the harmony. Oh dear.

Sour fruit compote served in a wooden bowl; resinous with a fine floral note. Anything goes, nothing is a must...

A hint of pineapple, then more like smooth warm wood without splinters. Spicy-cedar, soft and defined, I really like it.
