Mon Guerlain but somehow even better!

So I've had Mon Guerlain for years and use it all the time. Love it, one of my staples year round.

I got a decant of Goddess along with Her and Her Elixir, which I was much more interested in trying. I was expecting to like the other two, and had no idea what to expect from Goddess. As it turns out, Her and Her Elixir smell terrible on me, so after those disappointments, the Goddess sample stayed on my shelf for a month or two before I finally tried it, expecting to dislike it too.

As soon as I put it on, I knew I loved it. The opening is strong lavender and vanilla for me, almost exactly like Mon Guerlain, but with slightly more creamy sweetness.
Both the lavender and vanilla stay around, and ocassionally I get a hint of ginger and cacao as well, which I don't get from Mon Guerlain.

Beautifully blended, not too overbearing, an absolute gem of a perfume. Once I have finished my current Mon Guerlain, I will be replacing it with this.

Vanilla but not gourmand

Opens very Mon Guerlain-sh but with heaps and heaps of vanilla. The lavender isn’t as pronounced but it is enough for a little aromatic vibe! The ginger is a nice element as it makes the vanilla slightly fresh, such that the perfume isn’t gourmand and never gets too sweet. Goddess is a very well constructed perfume, and one that I fell in love with instantly! It performs well with good projection etc but it never gets noisy! I can also see the perfume fitting many occasions/activities and working in all seasons. The bottle is elevated and looks expensive. I think the advertising campaign captures the essence of the fragrance well. That said, I hate the price. It is ridiculous and greedy. Would I repurchase? I think so. I am moving into this type of vanilla profile and Goddess fits the bill.

A summer release that fits the bill for winter coziness

I stumbled upon this one by pure luck. Entered a SDM and it was right there at the front. Boyfriend stopped me to smell it and then sprayed it on himself at my demand. I returned the next day to spray it on myself. As a vanilla and gourmand lover, I was sure I'd find something great in this one.

I just want to take a moment to chime in about the recent ridiculous prices I've seen on designer frags. 153$ CAN for a 50ml is just way too expensive and I can't justify it. Goddess was a travel retail store exclusive for a month before coming into general retail stores and drugstores. It's not even a private line or an exclusive line. So that's my rant concerning the price.

Moving on to the scent-part of the review, I'm quite pleased I got to try it. It's a lovely warm (think luxurious body lotion) type of vanilla. There is a tinge of bitterness coming in from the cocoa and a hint of spiciness coming from the ginger at the beginning. Both of those notes remain faint in the grand scheme of this scent as the vanilla is truly the star here. Lavender surprised me about an hour later, giving the perfume a lighter, more airy accord to it. Vanilla is still the star, but the lavender imparted a more dreamy aspect to it that I found unique. There is a contrast between the more heavy vanilla aspect at the beginning and the lighter vanilla aspect at the end. Many retail stores mention there is a fragrance pyramid and I tend to believe this, now that I've tested it for myself.

This perfume is a clear fit for colder weather, which is why I question its release in the heart of summer. I find it way too heavy and cloying in the heat, but perfect for that cozy feeling when it's cold outside. Leisure yes and night out for certain, but be sure not to overspray as I found it had a bigger sillage than the other Burberry perfumes I've tested up until now.

Absolutely not

So immensely overhyped. It's way to strong and very heavy on the lavender which I don't appreciate due to the lingering smell which does not go away. Some may perceive this as a good thing, I personally don't like it. The longevity is pretty good must admit, but the vanilla in the scent is just not present enough, really unfortunate. For me it honestly just stank.

Love it!

Goddess is a gorgeous, feminine, sexy lavender vanilla. It’s a simple blend but I find it so comforting, relaxing, addictive and intoxicating. This is a perfect scent for day or night, and any occasion. It’s an easy reach. The Lavender note the strongest (which I love) followed by the vanilla. The ginger, cacao and vetiver linger in the background. It’s a great, easily likeable fragrance. I feel this could be worn all year round, although maybe not in the heat of summer.

I hadn’t planned to buy this. I really didn’t think it was anything special/unique, which it isn’t really, but I kept coming back to try it and I do absolutely love it. I have a full bottle and will definitely repurchase this again and again. I love that the bottles are refillable and already have the 150ml refill bottle on standby! I receive compliments, mainly from men, every time I wear it! My boyfriend loves it and it’s his current No.1 favourite fragrance in my collection! 10/10 for me!
