Nice surprise (But quite synthetic)

212 VIP Black Red pretty much mixes the 212 VIP Black DNA (Absinthe liquor and vanilla making kind of a gummy bear character) with leather and gaiacwood notes. While still feeling heavily synthetic and having a regular longevity, it is an interesting take on the clubbing DNA of the previously mentioned. Worth mentioning that when i tested it, it pretty much smelled to me like Axe Leather & Cookies, which is a deodorant that kinda copies the leather - sweetness DNA that several fragrances of today have (CH Men Privé, JPG Le Male Essence de Parfum, et cetera) but it just smelled in a way more refined way being a designer perfume instead of a deodorant and having an EDT concentration.

Bottom line: Quite generic in a way, but less generic than the others. Still if you want something new or groundbreaking, it's probably not here. A good frag still. Hope this helps and greetings

Berry-Spicy Edition

The 212 line from Carolina Herrera is my absolute favorite line. Those who follow me know that I don't miss any release and I look forward to each new launch. The 212 line has become quiet. However, a new collection has emerged with the 212 VIP line. This includes a series of party-appropriate fragrances that can also be worn on many other occasions. Not all, but many. This is already the 7th release of this 212 sub-line. 2 fragrances are produced indefinitely and the rest (including this one) are limited editions. Luckily, I secured all of them as many are no longer available. So far, I have not been disappointed and I enjoy wearing all of them. The women's line is also very nice, by the way.
With 212 Black, a new line has emerged. 212 VIP Black and 212 VIP Black Extra were releases that came before. The original Black EDP is a true spicy powerhouse with a pleasant sweetness and a strong absinthe note. This definitely makes an impression, not just because of the performance. The Extra had a slightly more subdued spice with significantly more sweetness. Now, after a few digressions, let's talk about the new Black Red:

I secured this shortly after the announcement of the release, as limited editions sell out quickly and this one is primarily intended for the Spanish and American markets. You can get it for relatively little money, especially for a new release.
The bottle is truly a sight to behold. A heavy bottle and a beautiful metallic red. This time, no long drink glass. On the box and in the campaign, it says: This Product Saves Lives. I have read that part of the price goes to an AIDS foundation. A great initiative.
The scent clearly shows the DNA of the original Black. The powerful spice of the original has been significantly toned down. The typical absinthe note is still present, but it has been refreshed with ginger and a lovely berry note. It almost reminds me a bit of Black XS by Paco Rabanne. Not a fragrance twin, but those who like that one might find this equally appealing. This limited edition is also not too sweet. For me, it is a balanced mix of sweetness, spice, and berry-soft notes. This fragrance will never be too heavy.
The performance, of course, cannot compete with the original EDP, which is really difficult to achieve. Nevertheless, it is very pleasant when worn closely and is very suitable for everyday use. The longevity is also really good, lasting around 10 hours.

Conclusion: A successful limited edition. The big wow factor is missing, as many similar fragrances have already been released that went in a similar direction. Especially for collectors and fans of sweet-spicy-berry fragrances, it is a nice release at a fair price.
