A babbling brook
Ivy is underrated note and it’s featured well here with galbanum and wet leaves. The opening is a fresh green stream, some faint crocuses of early spring that starts to sing and….disappears into light pencil shavings (the wood here has a hint of graphite, perhaps the “rock” alluded to in the name).

And then it’s over in an hour.

If it was bolder and made more of a statement before all hints of foliage vanished I could forgive it more. But it’s frustratingly just a “nice” ivy scent that has no idea what to do before it gives up altogether.

ex-equestrian
I actually ordered a sampler over a year ago, but despite its resume being perfect on paper, it wasn’t a perfect fit. RRM is more stereotypically cologne-y than I typically like. The (what I can only assume is) ivy is the dominant note. Imagine Irish Spring soap, only minus the soap. Despite being named after a horse, there’s nothing animalic. He’s clean, green, dark, dewy. The memory of fields and forests and saddle leather, but without the dirt under the nails. A cologne for horse boys who don't like to get muddy. (Dressage boys?)

Mental Snapshot: Hunter green velvet walls, polished mahogany. Billiard tables, oil paintings of champion Thoroughbreds. Investment bankers in foxhunting jackets.

tl;dr: for ex-equestrians

Stinky spa
This smells like one of those “healing” clay pore masks made out of volcanic ash and tea tree oil. Specifically, the kind that make you feel like your skin is peeling off your face like a slice of ham when you wash it off with warm water.

This also smells like someone brushed their teeth really well (tongue and all!), ate all the expensive creams and skin rejuvenation masks in a rich-people spa, and then breathed right in your face. I credit that to the musk in the base.

You can argue that this is unisex or that it redefines masculinity or femininity, but really it just smells like some bitter aromatic herb poultice that you would dab on your wrist to help you calm down before bed so you don’t get a sleep paralysis attack. It smells like the kind of rich people who go on spiritual journeys and write poetry while their parents are wanted for their role in destabilizing Latin American countries. My point is, this is devoid of gender and sexuality entirely. This will just make you smell like a fancy paste.

In conclusion, this is an okay perfume, but an even better home fragrance. Thank you for your time.

We’re going pheasant hunting darling
This opens a little bit bitter and skunky, almost like a natural bugspray (not in a bad way) and then a dirty earthy ivy and patchouli hits you. There’s also a rich and thick feeling floral that I love, and I guess it’s narcissus because it’s not rose. The scent is only dirty for a fleeting moment at the very beginning, as it starts drying down it cleans up a bit. It’s like we were going to go for a walk in the woods but our shoes got muddy so we turned around and went back. Then it almost becomes a bit leathery to me for a brief moment. All of this is rounded out by a nice amber base.

I was looking up the notes about an hour into wearing this and realized the scent is marketed for men which was a bit shocking. After finding that out okay I guess it’s a bit masculine leaning but I would have guessed it was unisex. Oh well, the men can share. But now that I know it’s for men, I picture it on a rich man who goes to the English countryside to shoot pheasants for sport.

This is pretty patchouli heavy in the dry down. It almost reminded me of black orchid. Amber patchouli and woods is impeccable to me but the patchouli sensitive should beware. Another thing to be said is I don’t know that this scent is doing anything new, it smells pretty classic and familiar and I think it’s well done but I wouldn’t call it super unique. Will keep wearing my sample but probably wouldn’t consider a full bottle.

rock river melody!
Fresh, clear, natural, and green. I haven't tried many scents from Régime des Fleurs, but of the ones I've smelled (mostly on other people) this is a fave. I like the kind of sharp, medicinal scent to it, and I love how watery it feels. It's very aptly named, and really evokes rocks and the river. Beautiful!

Rather than a rock river melody, this is a brook that hums a little, unable to find a tune, and exits abruptly.

It has something. A slightly edgy blend of galbanum's bitter green, flowers without sweetness, on a polished piece of sandalwood.

Floral-planty-green with a woody-resinous spice and a hint of shoe polish in the finish. Uniquely interesting and captivating fragrance beauty.

Rough green without being scratchy, amber floral without heavy sweetness. Feminine powderiness, sandy comfort, and patchouli spice. °°°

Coniferous green, oily, slightly cooling, measured from a ground-level perspective: you should like the moldy, gardenia-like impression.
