With gin, I comment on another Commodity fragrance here. And as always, this scent tells a little story or is at least inspired by everyday life. The inspiration of the perfumer for this fragrance lies in nightlife, where she imagines sipping cocktails in places with a dark and mysterious atmosphere, furnished with wood and leather, illuminated only by flickering candles. A high-end vibe and all…
The fragrance is meant to evoke places where one can enjoy delicious drinks and engage in deeper conversations with their companion. Clubs or lounges with a great atmosphere, for example,… and certainly with such sinfully expensive drinks that you go broke before you even get tipsy *sigh*
Well, let’s see how this one smells.
The Scent:
The fragrance begins with wonderful limes and grapefruits that smell as if you’ve mixed a great refreshing drink with them :D You throw in a few ginger leaves, and you have a fantastic drink for warm days.
It has a sweet scent as well; I think the sweetness comes from the juniper berries, as I can't categorize it any other way.
After a few minutes, the scent becomes earthier, thanks to the patchouli, even though it’s not very noticeable. A little later, a lovely woody note emerges, which later also begins to smell a bit resinous and forest-like. While the citrus notes are still detectable, the earthy notes recede again, so that the fragrance, although warm, still comes across as relatively fresh. The sweet notes remain but are now clearly from the musk, though they also have something of amber, at least that’s how it seems to me.
In the base, the citrus notes gradually fade, the fragrance becomes warmer and sweeter. Above all, you can now smell a beautiful, resinous-woody note with slight earthy scents in the background (although you still can't really perceive any patchouli).
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is okay. Not particularly strong, but fortunately not very weak either; it is certainly noticeable for a short while at a normal distance. I would actually rate it with 6.5 points, but since that’s not possible here, I’ll just type in 6 points :D
I also found the longevity quite okay, as it lasts for seven or eight hours before it becomes too weak.
The Bottle:
The bottle is black or made of dark gray glass and is cylindrical. Matching the color, there is a black label and a similarly black and cylindrical cap. It’s nice enough, but nothing particularly extraordinary.
Hmm, gin does smell good. It has a great, citrus-fruity note combined with woods and a lovely, albeit subtle sweetness. It is fresh, even though it comes across as warmer. The great thing is that the fresh phase of the fragrance, meaning the one with beautiful citrus notes, lasts quite a while before the scent becomes woody and warmer.
In my opinion, it’s a lovely fragrance to wear out in the evening during spring and summer. Whether for a party or just for a drink, it suits many occasions. It may be unisex, but somehow it feels a bit more masculine to me.
So, dark and mysterious could indeed fit the fragrance. But in an interesting and good way, not in a bloody vampire-like way, in case someone like me is reminded of the opening scene from Blade, where all the vampires are sitting in a dark club :D
Yes, I would definitely test this one; I liked it. Additionally, it reminds me a bit (in the heart note) of fragrances like Nikos Sculpture (which I think is great!), at least a little…
