Apple pie and a glass of cognac

DKNY Red Delicious is deliciously boozy.

This fragrance had the potential to be fresh and Summery, especially with the presence of apple and bergamot, however I'm rather glad that this fragrance is the complete opposite of fresh.

Red Delicious is rich, spicy and warm. This is the scent for a wild man, something that really appeals to me. The booziness originates from the rum and cognac notes, yet the spicyness from the patchouli, saffron and cardamom balances the scent out nicely.

Added notes of coffee and floral components such as iris, orchid and mandarin blossom makes for one very unique fragrance. This is certainly masculine however a daring woman wearing this fragrance is not out of the question.

I only half-heartedly agree that this is an aquatic, it does have slight watery notes, but it is nowhere near as fresh as most aquatic fragrances. The best seasons for DKNY Red Delicious would be Autumn and Spring and perhaps even Winter.

Red Delicious Men

I like this a lot better than Be Delicious Men which I really disliked. This version isn't anything truly special but I didn't find it awful by any means. If anything, I found it a tad boring. For me, it's all wood and spice. Definitely gives off a masculine vibe but I don't find it too strong or overpowering. It gives a feeling of warmth and coziness. I could see the ladies really liking the smell of this one on their man. I like it but I don't love it. It doesn't stand out to me as being one of the best in my collection but it's not the worst either. Instead it sits somewhere in the middle of the road.

Too screechy to work

A hypothetical hybrid between Dunhill Desire Red and Dunhill Custom – gone wrong. Red Delicious is a sweet, extremely synthetic “laundry musk” scent infused with discount sandalwood, a bold (and again, utterly plastic) accord of something halfway apple, earthy stuff (coffee?) and booze, finally unexplicably stuffed with a ton of nondescript metallic screechiness which does have a fascinating shimmering nature – smelling halfway rotten cough syrup and floor cleaner. Not tragic overall, and most important not really far from many niche scents playing this same “sweet booziness” card. But the quality is really, really low - too cheap to be taken seriously.

Brilliant Perfume by DKNY!

Citrus-woody notes are found in my absolute favorite fragrance.
I find the Red variant even better than DKNY Delicious Men.
By the way, you can hardly use an apple note better in a perfume!
The liqueur notes are also fabulous!

Big Apple in a bottle? Are you delicious?

From the past, I knew the Be Delicious fragrances for women.
Strong, fruity-sweet, dominant scents.

The DKNY Be Delicious Men line has (unfortunately) not much to do with that.

Both the regular Be Delicious Men and the Red Delicious Men feature woods and coffee. That’s what they have in common.

Red Delicious for Men:

It starts off with an alcoholic fruitiness, yes initially also delicious, rum with apple liqueur and vanilla vodka. Not sharp, pleasantly alcoholic, although there is little apple to smell. Right after spraying, it’s great, even the scent at the spray head. Here, the regular Be Delicious Men has the sour apple at the beginning, which I didn’t like so much.

Then follows a mix of alcoholic notes, apple liqueur is present, before the initial chords fade after about 15-30 minutes, the scent becomes close to the skin and the woody coffee note emerges in the main scent. A bit of alcohol in the background remains perceptible.

Fruity-sweet it is definitely not, those are the women’s versions of Be Delicious.

It is alcoholic-woody-coffee-heavy.
It is the coffee that neutralizes and covers the initial scent notes. Too bad.
They tried to make the scent appear masculine. It’s certainly not really masculine, but it’s not fruity sweet either. That means it can also be worn well by a man.
The Red Delicious Men is better than the regular Be Delicious Men, but it’s more of a good middle ground. Not a standout.

In a way, I now understand why the Be Delicious Men line was discontinued.
They simply couldn’t keep up with the women’s versions, neither in scent nor in commercial success.
