Commissioner Olfattke takes a time-out
Last chapter - Many astonishments

Commissioner Olfattke was amazed today.

On the one hand there was the fact that the thought of his departure tomorrow made him discontented. Just three days ago he had longed for the moment when his silly forced vacation would finally end.

On the other hand, he was just taking part in a kind of bus trip. It had led to Gut Emkendorf, one of the country music festivals that took place every summer as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. And despite all the arrogance of the capital, he had to admit to himself that Berlin did not offer such an experience. More remarkable, however, was the fact that he, who had previously reviled the participants on these tours as a collective Alzheimer's self-experiment, had been embarrassed to find that the majority of the remaining passengers were hardly older than himself. But much nicer.

Thirdly, he was amazed by his scent of the day. What now - di Sale? Already the prelude had been after short salt little house above all herbaceous-spicy-green, with tidy ethereal oils thereby. A swelling, sugary sweetness that diffusely reminded him of fir needles and scuffed past the fir honey did not fit into the picture either. You had to smell pretty much to feel a distant maritime aura. And the tide was out. During the morning, the sweetness had given way to a more balsamic, creamy, slightly bitter impression, which finally ended in mild wood. And before that problematic muff could have developed, the scent - as clever as it is atypical for the manufacturer - faded away in the course of the afternoon, leaving only a brackish-gray hint behind. Whatever sea might be meant by this, the nearby Baltic Sea was certainly not.

Fourth, yesterday's experience of a harmless mini-crime case had made it clear to him that he was by no means as dull as he had thought. It had felt surprisingly much better not to find a massacre at a crime scene, but only to solve a simple case of vandalism. Over the years, he may have become thinner-skinned instead of thicker-skinned. He'd think about it.

But by far the most amazing thing was the little piece of paper in his wallet, on which two names and an address had been scribbled in eagerly clumsy children's handwriting. He, of all people, a cynical sourpuss who had always made a bow about children, had been forced, so to speak, to become a pen friend of two primary school pupils. With that sincerely worried sympathy, how only children can feel towards the old, the two had reassuringly assured him that it didn't matter at all that he didn't have a WhatsApp and so he was allowed to write a letter as well.

His new smile about this consideration made him realize that he urgently needed to think through his relationship with children in general. Maybe he could practice on that with... Martin? Marvin? Marius? What was the boy's name? Damn, he didn't even know his grandnephew's name anymore. Although his sister had only raved to him about her newly hatched grandson three weeks ago. And he had barely listened.

Tomorrow night, he'd call her

The Man and the Sea #01 - Spring Awakening

/The beginning. Thematically and with a two-year time lag, to my published blog /

On my journey to a new sea fragrance, I meet not only those who can represent the sea 1:1. Rather, I am even looking for those who can portray the theme in a more abstract way, as I have a fragrance called 'Sel Marin' by Heeley that copies the smell of seawater almost perfectly.

Acqua di Sale seems almost exhilarating and light-footed, unlike many other fragrances from the niche aquatics category. Many appear heavy or cool, unusual or even putrid. Acqua di Sale on the other hand catches us with a good portion of creamy green.

Myrtle is a plant in its own right. Anyone who has ever smelled the dried leaves, or even smoked (or better evaporated) them, knows that even when dried, they almost smell like fresh green. As if it had simply caught the spring, conserved so that it could be released at any time with its freshly minty nature. In fact, I find the myrtle in this fragrance sets the tone. It contributes an extremely fresh, light green component that characterizes the fragrance until the end.
Especially at the beginning it is supported by a sweetish creaminess, which is unusual for an aquatic fish, but fits well with the light green appearance of myrtle. It seems as if the sweet blossom air of spring, together with its light green appearance, is captured in this fragrance. Even if it is not quite clear to us at the beginning, we notice after about an hour at the latest that we are certainly at the sea. The increasingly salty aura of the fragrance takes away some of its sweetness and makes it fresher without completely masking the spring character.

Anyone who is not afraid of unusual combinations should test this creamy green aquatic plant. The shelf life is almost infinite, the Sillage settles down quite quickly on a pleasant level.

In the end it's too soft and not cool enough for me. And my biggest criticism is the excessive durability.

Holiday refresher
Profumum Roma. Niche brand from Rome. Flacons unspectacularly beautiful. Ratings here are from 0 to 10. So this scent must be an extreme splitter. One you love or hate. Let's see/smell.

As my consultant said in my favourite perfumery: this fragrance brings her to the sea and/or memories of her last holiday by the sea. I see I was not sure at first whether I would like this mixture of (synthetic) salt and seaweed. So first out in the fresh air and after 30 minutes continue to smell. What do you want me to say? Yes, Acqua di sale will bring you to the sea in your mind, this salty seaweed note now lets a few woods sound through and compared to the classic smell on (Italian) coasts, the fragrance is very fine, almost soft around the corner. In the style of most Profumum Roma creations, a slightly sweet note has been added to this water without ever becoming intrusive. Well so, because these sweet scents are mine so not at all.

I find AdS rather one-dimensional, nothing seems to develop, and I don't mean that at all negatively. Even after 10 hours, with my eyes closed, I had the feeling of strolling along the Lungomare repubblica in Riccione, so intensely this fragrance sticks to you. And I like this saltiness that is so characteristic that makes the fragrance unique and unmistakable. Alone for that there is an extra point from me, because how many perfumes are today so similar to others, partly almost interchangeable.

Sillage strong, durability massive.

Whether AdS is good or not is up to each individual. I understand a 10 rating, then it is simply a direct hit. I find a zero a bit harsh, because sooooooooo it's not bad now either :-)

For me it's just a great summer scent that makes every beach holiday longer/revive

Mediterranean - Now
My last few vacations to the Mediterranean I wore Acqua di Parma's Colonia or Tom Ford's Neroli Portfino Acqua. Both I have sprayed me the last few days again. Today it was the Acqua di Sale again. And although acquired only a week ago in a local perfumery, it is THE fragrance that reminds me of the Mediterranean.
The amazing thing with this perfume began already in the perfumery. My intention was actually to get the Black Afgano sprayed on; I wanted to see how it would turn out. In an aside, the saleswoman showed me the Acqua di Sale. I took the test strip with me and put it in the hostess bag. The next day I took the jeans off the chair and I felt different for a brief moment; like I wasn't home. I smelled more intensely, wondered what it was, remembered the test strip and pulled it out. One sniff, second sniff, some pause, the third sniff. My friend had to take a whiff too. She smelled and started to smile slightly. "Remember the Amalfi Coast?" And yes, I remembered very well.
In fact, the art of this fragrance is precisely to give me the feeling of the Mediterranean coast. The days spent on the coastal hillsides, the standing bays, the chirping of the cicadas, the ever-present fresh breeze coming off the water. And although some lines in the comments here suggest that the scent has something chlorine-like about it, I wouldn't disagree with that at all in the second instance. Because it could also be the chlorine smell of a freshly cleaned staircase, which is directly adjacent to the restaurant, where a fine fish is served with well chilled white wine. An evening where the afternoon exhaustion of beach excursions fades away. The wine makes you feel light and the linen shirt with the soft penny loafers still calls for a little walk along the dock. An evening that ends with a prosecco for two on the balcony, transitioning to the night. Who needs a lot of sleep at night on vacation? Therefore, this fragrance can equally be interpreted as an evening going out fragrance - at least for summer. For me, probably the only fragrance this summer that reproduces the whole day on the Mediterranean, both retrospectively and from the temporal and intnsive performance in the here and now. Especially since I will no longer experience the Mediterranean coast this year and therefore I am even more pleased that I came by chance - I was actually looking for a Ausgehduft - on this fragrance.
My joy is unfortunately only slightly clouded by the bottle. Although the glass bottle as such very tidy and solid comes along, so very disappointed but the processing of the spray head and lid of cheap plastic. Also the nice idea of the travel atomizer and the decanting funnel could be processed in higher quality. But also not every trattoria awakens at first glance the cooking skills of the kitchen.
By the way, I'm new here in the community and if you have some tips for a nice fresh Ausgehduft, which reflects a bit of the Italian lifestyle of evening cities, such as Florence, then I'm happy about your tips.
Grazie i Ciao

An olfactory daydreaming - a true masterpiece!
A journey on a ship from Tuscany to Sardinia. Around you the smell of the salty sea and in front of you the smell of Sardinia and the myrtle floating towards you. Acqua di Sale captures this inspiration perfectly. A smell like a light sea breeze that clears the mind, makes you happy and pleases almost everyone, after giving a wonderful feeling of lightness and freshness.

Although it is never inappropriate in principle, on warm or even hot days it really blossoms when it warms up on the skin.

This sea breeze from the bottle is to be dosed well. It is in fact an Extrait de Parfum with a concentration of at least 43%. 1-2 spray bursts are enough for an all-day fragrance pleasure and beyond.

You are in the sea, near the portuguese coast, surrounded by seaweed and some pieces of wood from an old shipwreck. Unusual perfume.

Truly evocative of standing near the ocean and getting a warm saltwater breeze in your nostrils. Dries down to a very sexy skin musk.
