Girly goodness

This was my first ever “proper” perfume and I really like it.

I find the initial spray quite strong, the iris and rose is really forward. However, the dry down is probably my favourite- a warm, woody vanilla.

This perfume screams feminine and ‘smells’ like the colour pink, reminds me of something Barbie might wear. The bottle is also really cute, and makes a great gift.

Peony and powdery florals

Miss Dior opens up with the powdery smell of iris and the soft, green notes of peony and lily of the valley. Peony is one of my favorite floral notes, which makes this fragrance even more enjoyable for me. It's certainly generic, sure. But there's a reason why it's popular. It's reliable, very feminine, and pretty. The base notes give it a pleasant warmth, it's musky yet refreshing - this fragrance is a classic for a reason. But if you're not a fan of classics, powdery florals, or "older smelling fragrances", this may not be for you.

Overall pretty inoffensive, nothing special yet not bad at all!

Oh Miss Dior. What have they done to you?

Today I went in store to compare the Miss Dior 2021 version and the new Miss Dior by Francis Kurkdjian. You may have seen the 2021 version being discounted to make way for the new bottle but let me tell you this- if you want to purchase one of them, don’t bother with the 2021 bottle and just skip straight ahead to Kurkdjian’s creation. You’ll thank me later.

I can see why this version had to be shelved. There is nothing groundbreaking nor special about this. All I can smell is powder, soap and maybe a hint of pepper and dusty florals. Boring and forgettable. There is no resemblance to the beloved Cherie or 2012 versions besides the cute bottle. I definitely won’t be mourning the loss of the 2021 version once it’s finally gone.

Peaches and cream in the spring

Miss Dior EDP opens with soft, powdery spring florals. Peony and rose in addition to iris and lily of the valley - a spring flower field in a bottle. As it starts to dry down, the peach and apricot come out to bring in a very welcomed soft fruitiness to balance out the bouquet. Those fruity notes are in the official Dior website description of the fragrance, so I'm surprised that they aren't listed here (and a bit bummed since they are my favorite part!). Once it settles down completely, what's left is a delicious creamy woody vanilla - it's the sun coming out after a cold rainy spring day, ready to let the flowers grow.

Performance wise it lasts on me a good 5-6 hours before it becomes a skin scent, good projection with a few sprays in my experience. I do not think it’s that sweet of a perfume, the peach and apricot are very well blended with the powdery florals, and at times it is slightly reminiscent of incense in the dry down with the base notes giving it a very elegant woody element. It’s the perfect combo of feminine and youthful, but with your feet on the ground.

On a note not strictly related to the fragrance, the visuals and design of the bottle are absolutely gorgeous. The bow with the millefiori has been living in my mind forever, and once I received my package with the bottle, I loved how the 'Miss Dior' label is also made of fabric, plus the iconic and classic houndstooth engraving on the bottom. It perfectly represents the notes and what it wants to get across visually. This is my new signature scent and I don't see it changing anytime soon, I’ve been in love with it ever since I got 3 samples of it with my makeup order.

Fresh and sweet florals

I love how I can smell most of the heart and base notes on dry down. Rose-dominated florals with a muskiness that’s balanced by the vanilla and Tonka bean. A very pretty, yet standard, scent.

Unfortunately, like her sister Miss Dior Parfum, I am not a fan of the initial spray. It’s way too musky and floral until the other notes start developing. Which makes the scent feel heavy at first. Like a wet dog that was playing in a garden of roses. I really want to like the Miss Dior line, but so far the scents have been a disappointment for me.
