French elegance with an edge
With the latest fragrance creation in the Les Secrets series from EISENBERG, I finally found access to the series, which was still closed to me. Unfortunately, they are never in stock in stores. And since the range has so far consisted more of strong, oriental fragrances and I'm more into fresh perfumes, and €150 was too much for me for a blind purchase, I couldn't get started. But then two more candidates from the VII and VIII series arrived unexpectedly. I spontaneously opted for VII - also because of two gift vouchers :-)
Eisenberg Secret VII: Écho Lumineux is a classic, elegant chypre fragrance. Until now, I only knew the two Chanel Pour Monsieur as comparable candidates. And they threw me straight into the world of chypre. I was particularly taken with the Chanel EdP.
Eisenberg comes across as quite herbaceous/woody, green, fresh, the citrus is subtle, as is the floral component. The soapy character on the skin is striking, and only there does it develop this character). It also has a neroli effect. It is elegant, quite multi-layered and for me somehow the epitome of a classic men's fragrance from the 1950s. In contrast to Chanel EdP, I find it too masculine for women, also due to the strong oakmoss scent in the base. Personally, the fragrance still lacks a little mystery. A soft vanilla note, like in the Chanel EdP, or a little powderiness would be the icing on the cake.
It lasts very well on the skin and is phenomenal on clothing. Even 48 hours after spraying it on, the fragrance is still quite perceptible on an office shirt. On the skin, it is still perceptible close to the body even after washing with soap several times. And that brings us to the intended use - the office. But it is also very suitable for leisure use in the coming warm season.
I find the price/performance somewhat exaggerated. 170€/100ml - 120€ would be more appropriate. The price structure of the filling quantities is also quite customer-unfriendly. At 30ml the base price more than doubles! That's why I went for the large bottle.
Chanel or Eisenberg? I can't say for sure yet - but I'm leaning towards Chanel Pour Monsieur EdP.
Who is it more comparable to? Rather with the Chanel EdT - like here, it lacks the sweetness and is generally quite herbaceous/green.
PS: The vertical lettering 'LES ORIENTAUX LATINS' is missing on my bottle.
