French Chypre Elegance with an Edge
With the latest fragrance creation from the Les Secrets line by EISENBERG, I finally found a way into the series that had previously remained closed to me. Unfortunately, they are never in stock in stores. And since the line has so far consisted mainly of strong oriental scents, and I prefer fresh perfumes, I found it too risky to spend €150 on a blind buy. However, unexpectedly, two more candidates from the series VII and VIII came along. I spontaneously decided on VII - also because of two gift vouchers :-)
The Eisenberg Secret VII: Écho Lumineux is a classic elegant Chypre fragrance. Until now, I only knew the two Chanel Pour Monsieur as comparable candidates. And they immediately threw me into the world of Chypre. I was especially taken with the Chanel EdP.
The Eisenberg comes across as quite herbal/woody, green, fresh, with a subtle citrus note, as well as a floral component. Notably, there is a soapy character on the skin, and it only develops this character there. It also has a hint of Neroli. It is elegant, quite complex, and for me, somehow embodies a classic men's perfume from the 1950s. For the female gender, I find it too masculine compared to the Chanel EdP, also due to the strong oakmoss scent in the base. Personally, I still miss a bit of something mysterious about the fragrance. A gentle vanilla note, like in the Chanel EdP, or a bit of powderiness would be the icing on the cake.
The longevity on the skin is very good, phenomenal on clothing. Even 48 hours after spraying, the scent is still reasonably perceptible on the office shirt. On the skin, it remains noticeable even after several washes with soap. And that brings us to the intended purpose - the office. But it also fits very well for casual use in the upcoming warm season.
I find the price/performance ratio a bit exaggerated. €170/100ml - €120 would be more appropriate. The pricing of the quantities is also quite unfriendly to customers. For 30ml, the base price more than doubles! Therefore, I went for the large bottle right away.
Chanel or Eisenberg? I can't say for sure yet - but I tend towards the Chanel Pour Monsieur EdP.
With whom is it better comparable? More with the Chanel EdT - as it lacks the sweetness here and generally also comes across as quite herbal/green.
By the way, I also have the Secrets I-III on my wish list - IV to VI are probably not for me.
PS: The vertical inscription 'LES ORIENTAUX LATINS' is missing from my bottle.
