Cold, classy & creative
Fruity-minty metallic fizziness, translucent soapiness, azure water, crystal and glass, a sparkling fruity cocktail, with a subtle, sophisticated sort of “synthetic leather chair” feel. The smell of cold metal, rubber, fresh air. Both formally gentle, and almost arrogant with its cold cutting sharpness, especially at the beginning. What instantly got my attention here is that Z by Zegna manages to stay connected to a certain type of “middle class mainstream” references, which in the end would be, I guess, more or less aligned to Zegna's customers' world, while smelling almost avantgarde, decidedly “niche” and different enough from other similar designer scents: it smells sharp, crisp, minimalistic, “cold” and synthetic, but by no means “cheap” or generic – not at all. If that makes sense, on the contrary it smells “high quality synthetic”. Both for the quality and the creativity involved. An azure-black scent: if you take a look at the bottle, that’s the perfect visual depiction of the fragrance. Glass, azure water, grey metal, black rubber. This may be classified as a fruity-spicy-woody aquatic scent, as it basically seems composed by tart citrus notes, something fruity and bittersweet like apple or blackcurrant, soft woods, sharp spices, green notes and a very hint of patchouli; surely on the “fresh & office-safe” mainstream side, but this doesn’t prevent it to be classy and above all, something on its own creativity-wise. It does not really remind me of anything else, and I quite disagree about considering this a copycat of Aqua di Giò or similar fragrances. It clearly belongs to that same family in broad terms, but this doesn’t make it a redundant blatant copy. While the concept of “sport/aquatic/office-fresh” fragrance is surely involved, in my opinion Z by Zegna sits actually quite away from most other fragrances of those genres. It conveys those clichés, but in a unique way – colder, fruitier, sharper, with a really peculiar feel of “icy futuristic elegance”. It smells sophisticated, formal and sporty at once, cold and synthetic yet somehow slightly “warm” in a really natural way – the warmth of lukewarm crystal water and sea breeze. This "warm" feature will emerge clearly on the drydown, more centered on extremely subtle dusty-powdery-woody notes. Kind of yuppie, a bit light and a bit too linear to be entirely compelling, but in my opinion surely fascinating and more than pleasant to wear.

A Masterful Well-balanced Composition
Awesome Fragrance! Fresh, Spicy, Woody, Elegant, Modern and Unique. It smells so good and very pleasant, There is a Harmony between its notes and This perfume has a Masterful Well-Blended Composition with Italian Style. In my opinion, It is above many of its genre. Nowadays It is hard to find and It is very Rare, l found and bought It blind-buy by chance with reasonable price. It opens up with fresh citrusy, spicy, floral and spices notes in the background then dry down is earthy woody. This is perfect for the spring and summer and I really enjoy it and I love it very much, I'm so happy that I have it in my collection, Longevity is Average, The Iris and Rosemary notes are dominant in this scent. Highly Recommended.
Two Thumbs Up
Bravo Zegna !

My favorite Moosi :)
… yes, exactly, we're talking about oak moss, and the first chicks are already taking cover, haha. Just like I usually do, because as soon as there's too much of it, like in fragrances from the 70s/80s, I'm out just like most under 30, even though I'm already a bit over 30 ;-) In other words:

Nothing going on with oak moss …

… from A to Z, except for the Z from Zegna, which has captivated me - my one & only. Not a bit of "old-fashioned opulent scent" like oak moss fragrances are often dismissed by younger fragrance enthusiasts, because this one opens almost the same way it ends and stands in between really well - wonderfully fresh.

And how?

Well, with a nice mix of subtle oak moss, invigorating blue-green aquatic notes, lightly acidic fruity additions, and a finely sharpened spice blend. Neither boggy nor herb-heavy, but refreshingly balanced and aromatic - it lacks nothing.

What more could you want when the scent of Algemarin clings to you after a shower? Because Z Zegna somehow reminds me of this iconic gel, which has existed for decades.

So I quickly got the distinctive liquid soap for comparison - in a plain white bottle. Oops, where did the brilliant blue go? No matter … and how similar are the two now? Well, probably only a match of 60-70%, but the feeling is similar.

The mineral Algemarin smells a bit brighter and a touch spicier, which could probably be achieved by adding a splash of the current Kenzo Homme. Because its strong synthetic notes are "loud" enough to imitate the almost biting freshness of the shower gel, while Z Zegna would contribute the mild depth.

But the Algemarin comparison is flawed anyway, because no shower gel can easily match the class of an Eau de Toilette, and the young ones probably wouldn't know it anyway. I just wanted to convey that Z Zegna is a "shower gel scent" that truly deserves that name. Because what is parading under this term on Parfumo should actually be banned until one has at least completed the Algemarin basic course for seahorse candidates to really be able to join the conversation ;)

After about 3/4 of an hour, a bit of patchouli does come in and makes the scent a bit richer, but there is no trace of iris, just as I can't detect cashmere, so this Italian creates a rather linear scent profile - lasting about 5 hours on the skin, and depending on the fabric 6-8 hours on a shirt, with moderate sillage.

You feel like you've just showered for hours with this soft, yet distinctly blue-green scent, which is more aquatic than antiquated. Because Z Zegna is simply constructed, but anything but old-fashioned, and that's why it's not for nothing

my favorite Moosi :)

A Sport Fragrance with a Surprise
At KaDeWe in Berlin, not only has the perfume department been recently renovated, but it seems that the sales staff has also undergone a brutal motivation training. Where previously only a few employees showed initiative, now you need an invisibility cloak to navigate through the department undisturbed.

Thus, I was practically forced to test Z by Zegna - I let it happen. The Zegna brand, which is positioned in the mid-price segment, is occasionally worth a look. I didn’t provide any information about my fragrance preferences, so the enthusiastic salesperson's decision to offer me a sport fragrance was fine.

Because that is what the current Z is, even if it doesn’t say so. We encounter that slightly synthetic citrus freshness here, which we know from most perfumes in this category. Here it is probably referred to as “Kasowari fruit” - such exoticism in the pyramid's notes reveals the average.

In fact, there are significantly worse sport fragrances. One must concede that the perfumer evidently knew how to make the best of the given parameters. The citrus freshness meets a very well-executed spicy-dry background. This feels elegant and also a bit sexy - Z is more serious than it initially appears.

A surprise awaits us in Z's development towards the base. The scent becomes distinctly mossy. As the citrus note slightly recedes, a genuinely maritime impression emerges - it smells like salty air! Z thus steers towards that aquatic note, which is fully expressed in Profumi del Forte's Tirrenico and has led to extreme rejection on Parfumo (“harbor basin,” “fish remains”). However, as a mainstream fragrance, Z hints at this direction so cautiously that such associations are likely to be avoided.

Thus, my conclusion is positive. It will be hard to find a better and more creatively crafted sport fragrance. There are worse things than being sprayed with Z, so off to KaDeWe!

Back then one of my favorite fragrances... back then
About 15 years ago, during my second fragrance hype phase, this was one of my favorite scents.
I even had the limited edition from Ducati.
Z Zegna Ducati Edition
As well as an extremely rare travel version in an aluminum bottle.
I was quite taken with it.
My main fragrance in spring and summer.
Definitely has a youthful appearance.
Target audience is probably a younger clientele.
New, it costs about €0.70/ml.

About the bottle:
The feel/grip is superficially smooth, as it is made of glass, transparent, flat, and wide.
It fits well in the hand.
Additionally, it has a rubberized plastic coating on the sides that prevents/slows down slipping.
Thus, good handling is provided.
The cap also seals the sprayer well. It sits quite tightly at first, but this becomes less so with more frequent use.
The spray head is located in the lower middle area.
Completely sufficient.

About the scent:
In the opening, there is a citrus freshness with strong aquatic notes, with slight hints of woodiness and a certain spiciness, as well as added green undertones.
The citrus components noticeably fade over time.

Longevity is about 5-8 hours, placing it in the good middle range.
Sillage is about 3-5 hours, which is also in the middle range.

Conclusion:
The scent was often worn back in the day.
I went through several bottles of it over the years.
At some point, I just stopped repurchasing it.
Certainly a pretty good fragrance, but it feels too youthful for me now.
It’s no longer the scent direction I favor, so it’s clear that the time would run out.
I still had half a bottle of the travel spray which I have now finished.
.....

Thank you

What I consider the epitome of "sports" fragrance. Clean citrus top, masculine in it's green oakmoss base. Nothing special here.

Beautiful fruity-fresh-spicy and aquatic summer scent, with a subtle sweetness that corresponds to a weak S+H of Ejaculatio Praecox.
