Hello everyone! :)
Today I am introducing the new Guerlain fragrance from this year (2018). Well, one of the new fragrances from 2018 to be precise, because Guerlain, being a larger manufacturer, releases several fragrances each year. I think that's great. This way, I have more fragrances to present here… yes, yes, to your dismay, because I write so much and all… argh, be quiet and just read instead of complaining, he he :D
This is a flanker or another version of the Météorites that was released 18 years ago. Apparently, this fragrance isn’t being received very well, judging by the average ratings. The fragrance from the year 2000 also didn’t fare too well… Hmm, whether this fragrance is really not that great will become clear, even though it will of course just be my opinion and everyone should test a fragrance for themselves.
Provided I can get the sample open… the fragrance is in a small glass tube that is sealed with such a tight cap that you’d think the tube had a theft protection or something… I might break a nail trying to open it, and I might even break the tube in the process… yes, as you can see once again, I am suffering here just to write a comment for you, and what is the thanks for that?? *sigh* If I were vain and arrogant, I would say that you do NOT deserve me here :DD
The Fragrance:
At first, I smell apples. Then the roses quickly join in, making the fragrance fruity and floral in the top notes. But shortly after, it becomes noticeably powdery-sweet, as the violets can be smelled quite well, or rather because the violets become more intense.
I find that soon the fruity notes recede quite a bit. At the sprayed spot, you can occasionally catch a whiff of apple, but in the actual scent cloud, you can almost only smell sweet notes like violets, but also musk, which seems to become even stronger in the base, as it appears to be intensifying for me.
In the base, the fragrance seems to acquire a light, sultry floral note, with a slightly synthetic aftertaste. And that would be my biggest criticism of this fragrance here, aside from the fact that it otherwise smells rather insignificant, but is not really that bad. And yes, even in the later base, the fragrance smells of musk and continues to have a slightly sultry-floral and somewhat synthetic scent note.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is moderate and even becomes a bit weaker after a short time. You would have to spray more of the fragrance, but even then I think it will only be best smelled up close. The longevity is okay, the fragrance lasts about ten hours, but for half that time, it is rather weak, sillage-wise.
The Bottle:
The bottle is round or a vertically standing disc and has a round and nicely designed label in pastel colors in the middle (I believe the label was made of fabric instead of paper, but I can’t quite remember, it’s been too long since I held the bottle). The slightly puffed cap is white and matches the rest. Overall, it may not be really spectacular, but I think it’s nice.
So…
Oh, did you actually know that the Météorites are not just fragrances, but have their origin in Guerlain's makeup product line in the form of powder pearls? … Well, you are women, at least mostly the readers of this comment here, which means, of course, you knew that,… hmpf, who asks such a silly question. I, on the other hand, had to look it up… and then I could also look up what Clair, Medium, and Doré mean among the available powder pearls. Clair obviously means "clear," so I thought they were color gradations, so clear, medium, and dark… but doré means golden! Ugh, this is complicated :DD
And then there are also a whole bunch of versions of this Météorites makeup… for example, light-reflecting,… so that one… uh, is no longer seen because the light is reflected? Cloaking makeup, so to speak…, yes, yes, so that women can go out among themselves without being annoyingly hit on :DD
I know I’m rambling nonsense and I know that I don’t have a clue about some things, but still, stop laughing, aaargh!
Anyway, regarding this fragrance, it turned out to be just okay for me. It’s not something to run away from, but it’s also not exactly a standout. I’ll use the negatively sounding word "uniformity," as that’s how it smells and it doesn’t represent anything special. The synthetic note at the end bothers me a bit, but there are far worse things!
You can take a look at it since it doesn’t just smell powdery, but also has a little fruity touch, and thus might offer a tiny bit of variety, but otherwise, it’s just okay. However: For a Guerlain fragrance, I still find it quite disappointing, as Guerlain’s other mainstreamers like Mon Guerlain or the Petite Robe Noir fragrances and similar ones smell much nicer and better.
Usable as an all-rounder, possibly more suitable for warmer days, it can be used as a daytime fragrance. However, it is too unremarkable for going out. You can test this Guerlain, but you won’t miss anything if you don’t.
Well, that’s it. I wish you a nice evening :)
