Shalimar Millésime Jasmin
I'll call this one "Shalimar for those who don't like Shalimar", largely because I don't like Shalimar, but I really like this version.

It's rich and complex from the start. On spraying, I smell Shalimar's signature plastic-musk lavender fougere core and vanilla, this time clad in cinnamon sugar, cloves, and a Mitsouko-esque dough note, which combine with the vanilla to create a rather perfect fresh-baked cinnamon bun smell. I know that sounds kind of daft (we've all be tortured with a cheap cinnamon roll Christmas candle), but it all works really well here, with the fougere and musk elements keeping this from smelling cheap or literal.

For the record, I smell no jasmine.

The base is the vanilla/amber Guerlinade you'd hope for, with the addition of a really well executed chocolate note. This seems to last forever, spending the day fading between cinnamon spices and a perfect Shalimar base, only to smell like chocolate-dipper Guerliande later.

So yeah. This is one of the best gourmands I've smelled in ages, and my favorite take on Shalimar. If you go in expecting that, you'll be delighted, though this is bound to disappoint those actually expecting jasmine.

A MESS IN A PRETTY DRESS
I don't know what to think of it. To be honest, it's a mess. This fragrance is all over the place! It starts off with a soapy, almost harsh opening, followed by a sharp citrus knockout. Five hours in, it shifts dramatically into an ambery leather base with some nutty, powdery notes — probably iris. Yet, I swear I can detect heliotrope in there, too.

The jasmine in this fragrance smells overwhelmingly soapy and plain. It’s not indolic or carnal in any way.

I've noticed three distinct phases in this fragrance, each smelling like a completely different perfume. The opening jasmine phase is soapy, harsh, and unbalanced. The heart “cologne” phase is a sharp leathery bergamot with a dash of powder. Finally, the deep drydown settles into a soft, citrusy vanilla. Overall, it feels disjointed and inconsistent. A mess in a pretty dress.

The projection is OK, lasting for about an hour before fading into a long-lasting skin scent.

Compliments: a friend mentioned that I smelled like an old-fashioned cologne splash from a classic barbershop — nostalgic and reminiscent of a bygone era. They meant it in a positive way.

I was a huge fan of the first two limited editions, Millésime Vanilla and Millésime Tonka, both created by Thierry Wasser (and Jelk, but they smell like typical Wasser creations). They were beautifully balanced and straightforward in their compositions. Delphine Jelk created Iris and Jasmin limited editions. I didn’t like Millésime Iris. To me, it was just a watery vanilla with a powdery opening that felt thin and lackluster. I’m not a fan of Delphine Jelk’s interpretations of Shalimar, including Millésime Jasmin.

There’s a rumor that each Millésime release will represent one of the classic ingredients found in the Guerlinade, the signature accord of the Guerlain fragrance house. The Guerlinade’s core components include:

- Vanilla
- Bergamot
- Tonka bean
- Iris
- Rose
- Jasmine

I’m looking forward to Millésime Rose. However, I’m not as excited about the idea of Millésime Bergamot, especially since Millésime Jasmin already featured an overwhelming dose of bitter bergamot, which I didn’t enjoy.

Elegant and caressing jasmine
First of all, I'll start by saying that in my opinion this perfume is unisex.

I smelled it at a friend's place along with a bunch of other perfumes and that evening, only this perfume interested me.

Today I already have two bottles of this perfume because it's a limited edition, as you know.

This is a pure jasmine perfume with vanilla that accompanies the florals in an elegant, sensual and spectacular way.

I love it so much.

In my opinion, the perfume is versatile for all seasons, except for the very hot days of summer.

9/10.

Indolic Jasmine
Huge disappointment for this one.

I was expecting a softer Shalimar (which I really like) with a more pronounced floral side. In reality, the jasmine is here extremely indolic and I therefore find it, on the contrary, much heavier and far more animal than the original, which does not please me at all. I also smell a very invasive leather note.

In short, I'm not convinced at all.

Shalimar With A Twist
Happy Birthday Shalimar. You are 100 years old. This is my first experience with a Millésime flanker. Sadly I missed out on the Millésime Tonka and Ode a la Vanille, but delighted to have gotten my hands on Shalimar Millésime Jasmin. An unexpectedly beautiful fragrance. Blooming jasmine in the heart of the fabled Shalimar DNA. The jasmine accord consists of not one, but three different variations. Jasmine from India, Italy and Grasse. Amalgamated to form the perfect jasmine topped with green notes for a touch of dew. There is much more vanilla here than Shalimar has traditionally, growing sweeter and warmer as the fragrance progresses.

This is probably the most attractive version of Shalimar I have ever had the pleasure of smelling. In the realm of Must de Cartier Parfum, only softer, sweeter and less green. They have jasmine and vanilla strongly in common, but Cartier contains galbanum which gives it that tenacious, bitter green note.

Reading through numerous reviews, it seems many feel that because Millésime Jasmin is so far removed from Shalimar, that it's not Shalimar at all. Trust me when I say, it is still very much Shalimar, but with a twist. For those of you who are not fond of Shalimar, may be partial to this. Equally, this is a fragrance for jasmine lovers, but you must also enjoy vanilla to some degree.

A very soft, cozy, fluffy sort of Shalimar with amplified jasmine. The jasmine is only barely indolic, reminds more of jasmine green tea.

I don't think "It smells weird in here", as my co-worker stated, is a compliment. But I like the way it smells.

Not a distinctly feminine perfume, recommended for men who are not afraid of white floral perfumes.
