WARM GLOW
The opening is all rosewood. Dry and medicinal, like an ancient apothecary’s counter that’s seen its share of forbidden potions. There’s nothing creamy or cozy here; it’s dark and bitter wood. Then comes labdanum, that mysterious resin with more personalities than a stage actor. It starts off earthy and waxy, grounding the sharp wood. Give it about half an hour, though, and the magic trick begins. Suddenly, the labdanum fizzes up into something that smells uncannily like cola.
Why cola? Because labdanum naturally contains compounds like vanillin and benzoin-like resinoids, ingredients that echo the sweet-spicy sparkle of cola. As the rosewood quiets down, that cola sweetness comes forward. Like vintage Coca-Cola in a crystal glass. The vanilla rounds out the bitterness and softens the edges of this magic potion. The difference between the start and the finish is striking: what begins as sharp and medicinal melts into something enveloping, vanillic, and quietly sensual. The sweetness isn’t gourmand; it’s more amber-soft, almost comforting.
It’s not an overly complicated scent. And that’s the charm. The raw materials shine, unmasked and beautifully honest. You can tell this is built from naturals: it wears close to the skin, with mild performance, yet it lingers quietly and persistently.
If this perfume were a character: a cinematic nun straight out of a 1960s film. She’s proper and composed, but when she goes out for groceries, she slips a bottle of vanilla-scented oil and a pair of silky stockings into her basket. Beneath the austere black and white, she wears silk and lace lingerie: a quiet rebellion hidden under sacred robes.
