cloudy holiday

A whispery, melancholy… holiday resort citrus? The cleanness of the lavender paired with the acid of the citrus spikes this intoxicating, faintly chemical note. Think the slightest residue of chlorine on your skin, even after showering with fancy hotel soap. And a film of sunscreen still clings too, which must be the sweet jasmine and amber. Which is not to say it’s a sunny, smiley citrus. Something about the cedar and musk leadens it. It’s like a lemon with depression. Pairs splendidly with watching Aftersun in your empty flat. Unfortunately, it vanishes faster than a cheap date (we’re talking barely thirty minutes). Absolute travesty, because this fragrance is phenom while it hits.

Mental Snapshot: Solo holiday on a B-tier Mediterranean island. Off-season discount, at a desiccated, bygone resort. Gentle Mediterranean waves lap upon a grey, pebbled beach. But you prefer to ghost about the overheated pool, drinking well cocktails and reading cheap fantasies. It’s overcast the whole week, but you still get sunburned.

Citrus and not really musk

To me, this smells like a clone of D&G Light Blue. I get the citrus, green, and slightly spicy notes, and absolutely none of the musk. I used to love LB and it was my signature for many years, but having tired of it, I found myself unable to wear Bergamusk through the day, because it reminded me so strongly of LB. Perhaps the ambrettolide and musk would have shown up later on, but I didn't have the patience to wait. This will be a great scent for citrus lovers, and perfect for spring and summer as it feels light and clean. Just not for me.

lemon with depression

my first bergamot scent and it is SO strongly bergamot on the opening. not sweet at all to me, very citrusy almost savory. i got this odd wave of sadness when i first smelled it that i can’t seem to shake. this is probably very good for the summer although i really haven’t worn it out of the house yet. someone on fragantica called this scent a “lemon with depression” and i lowkey agree lmao.

This smells like generic hand soap. It's my least favorite sample of my box from Heretic. It's fine smelling but it's just bergamot and musk, straight up. Being uninteresting isn't a terrible crime for last place, but I expected something more fun. Bergamot is in everything though so what should I expect

Pleasant Nail Polish Remover

Opens with a blast of clean musk and jasmine, and then the accord that emerges in the dry-down becomes a bit chemical-like to my nose. Nail polish remover is the note that I get from it. But it isn't unappealing, or harsh, it's light and fresh. Doesn't quite hit the bergamot note that I would have liked to find.
