Fooled by ratings
Blind bought it based on the good scent and longevity ratings, for a fresh fragrance, in a country with a long summer, thats what i need.
The opening is fresh and fruity you have the Boss DNA right away, its apple for sure but my nose gets mandarin too, i wish the opening lasts more because 1 or 2 hours i get the dry down, a woody base note with a sharp metallic synthetic note that i really hate , and the worst thing is after several days of use my nose catches this note rather quickly from all the beginning making this fragrance really unbearable .
its cheap longlasting yes but i dont like it

And the award for most known bottle in the 90's goes to...
90's fresh scents like this, Cool Water and Tommy had more of air of being grounded in the earth and masculine than the modern fresh which is all but androgynous and sometimes a little too sweet, like the best sellers of today such as Versace Man Eau Fraiche and Lucky Brand's Lucky You. I like the 90's batch not only for the nostalgia but also for the quality. Fresh accords balanced out with wood and fir in the base that give it masculinity and gravity. I think there are better choices out there for the same price point, sure, but this scent and bottle will always be iconic for people of a certain generation. I can also confirm that the longevity issues with the EDT are here corrected in the EDP. Unfortunately I can't say the same level of progress was made with the sillage, although this is definitely better as well.

Change is as necessary as the renewal of leaves in spring. Vincent van Gogh
The old Hugo has been well-known for a long time, and one could say he is a youngtimer if you count the years since his release.
Today, on January 1st, and parallel to the New Year's concert in Vienna, this Extreme is also a new beginning.
He is no longer completely fresh, yet he still stands prominently among the upper part of the Boss shelf at retailers. He will probably be replaced by the new Joop when Coty completely... claims the entire shelf for its latest homme product. Another topic, and exciting when it’s not just about fragrances but also about the backgrounds: who makes which perfume and who plans what.
This Hugo could be a product of Azzaro or Mugler; normally, only Clarins comes up with their sillage bombs. Somehow, he also reminds me of the strong Prada intense variants.
He is definitely one you can show off with. With this scent, you cannot enter a room with other meeting participants subtly; you have to be well-prepared for the meeting and the topics if you come in so extremely. You will stand out, and if no one focuses on the scent, a question about the content of the meeting will surely arise. This somewhat extreme fragrance is therefore not a backbencher or a normal listener. One should have a bit of a grasp of the waltz of the New Year's concert if wearing scents with strong sillage.

For me, one of the best products from Coty at the moment; they have finally brought the quality into the bottle that should represent a brand like Boss. Too many fragrances from Boss have a good appearance, look attractive, but are disappointing when tested; here, all of them lose their charm. There is no product in the top 100 of Parfumo that comes from Boss or, in general, from Coty.
Here, the commercial face of the budget brands shows the very simple and plain truth.

The strength and freshness of the scent are very pleasing and enjoyable; nothing disturbs or stings in the nose. Quite successful and well reformulated for today’s time, as the similarity to Hugo is clear. Still better, more pleasant, and also longer-lasting, which is always a strength for a fragrance if it doesn’t vanish into the eternal skin depths after just twenty minutes.
As an office scent that wants to appear influential, highly recommended. Also perfectly fine as an evening scent. For a date in a classic Viennese venue, we are back at the concert...., not really suitable, as it seems to overshadow the ingredients of the meat a bit too much.

In the ingredients of the scent, you can initially perceive the apple, which is very spicy, very positively.
The Bottled, as a successor scent to the youngtimer Hugo, has the sweeter apple note, so they are not to be equated.
Then comes the freshness of the cedar with a dance step that is exemplary and worth imitating. Hence my statement that this is one of the best scents from Boss or Hugo.
A go-to fragrance where you can't go wrong; that’s what you absolutely want to avoid on January 1st, or better put, extremely.

Clear purchase recommendation at an honest and fair price.
Compliments to the ladies and gentlemen at Coty; this is how mainstream is done.

Still unmistakable
Last week I went on a bit of a shopping spree, after taking a long, long time to decide on Green Irish Tweed, I quickly and without much fuss picked up two new fragrances at a good price. Sander for men and Hugo Extreme. As a child of the 80s, the original Hugo was also one of my first perfumes back then; it had a cool image and a unique scent. And to be honest, I don't notice a big difference compared to back then, maybe the sillage is a bit more opulent and the longevity is above average at about 10-12 hours. It remains a fresh, very distinctive scent even in extreme mode, but the difference to the "normal" Hugo is not exorbitant. Herbal-green, a bit sweet, but only minimal, and yes, also a bit synthetic; I'm still a bit torn regarding the long-term assessment of whether that might get on my nerves. So far, I really like it, also a scent for always and everywhere, not as common nowadays as in the 90s. I like! Also the bottle, modern classic!

Tasty Passive Smoker?!
The original "Hugo" is one of THE men's fragrances of the 90s & a good scent - no more, no less. I would still stand by my 70% rating from back then, even if my text was a bit too strict & curt. Not to mention a generally not-so-good writing style - but everyone knows that feeling when they look back at their early comments with a bit of shame. Anyway, I'm digressing.

My girlfriend asked for a bag for her mini-cosmetics so that dear Douglette could throw in a sample - it was the new Hugo Extreme. Just as my sample grabber was about to toss it into my "already-tested pile," thinking it was the classic Hugo, I managed to snatch it away and enlighten her. But it was really written small this Extreme ;-9

I don't have the original absolutely in my nose anymore, as you hardly smell it these days, but enough to notice strong similarities. With the new one, the apple is more pronounced at first, steering the scent more towards Boss Bottled, and the smoky-woody notes later come off as more aromatic. Everything is a bit spruced up, brightened, and zestier. Similar to HD to UHD - edges are smoothed out & the scent feels fresher, brighter, clearer, but unfortunately also a bit more synthetic. It's actually quite tasty, but it loses a bit of steam & kick along the way. It doesn't offer any particularity or sophistication right from the start. It doesn't have to, as it's quite wearable & above average. However, you won't make it onto bestseller lists with something like this by the end of the year. The guys & gals at Coty are aware of that. No big deal, the money keeps rolling in. It's actually a shame.

Bottle: the classic bottle - beautifully ugly.
Longevity: seems longer than the original (even if I rambled about 8 hours back then) - 5-7 hours.
Sillage: everywhere everyone everything

Conclusion: similar game as with Boss Bottled Intense - can replace the original slightly better (when that bottle is empty), condenses its strengths, but brings nothing new to the table & is somewhat unnecessary. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone ;-)

A nicely blended perfume. Good performance with a nice character. Lovely one from Boss. Oh....a lovely bottle with a pull off cap too.

I just found that the new shaker bottle is better juice than 2016 edition - it is clearer , more consistent and potent - lasts longer .

Great anytime casual frag, but more suited for cold weather - heavy pine with a bit of green apple sweetness. Early 2000s nostalgia vibes.

Tested it briefly today and noticed it has something special. Much better than the original Hugo. Ordered it right away and I'm thrilled by the intensity.

I don't know the supposedly watered-down reissue of Hugo (thankfully); but THIS one smells like: Flashback 1998/first great perfume love ♡.

Very fresh masculine scent with an apple that isn't annoying. Plus, good longevity despite the low price. A must-have for every collection.

Very masculine scent with strong longevity - 3 to 4 sprays are enough. The addition of "extreme" fits perfectly here!
