It Smells Like White Clouds Over The Sea
What do Hugo Man original and Hugo Reversed have in common? Nothing, apart from the iconic shape of the flask. Reversed is not a flanker of Hugo Man. Instead, it is a scent on its own. The bottle inspired by the cans of the soldiers, this time is solid white, in a ceramic style liken M&W Tabac Original, same screw cap with a black ribbon as Hugo Man classic.

Despite the few notes contained in the olfactory pyramid, Reversed is not a linear perfume, but a scent that ranges between a citric head, an aromatic heart, and a woody and earthy base. As soon as you pop the cap and the juice comes out of the sprayer, a massive cloud of fresh citrus fruits wraps the air, the grapefruit feels bitter, pleasant, it makes you want to drink it like freshly squeezed juice. The savoury blend of bergamot and grapefruit give a beautiful effervescent citrus tone to the overture, somehow tart, tangy, and refreshing. Miserably, the top notes stay only for half an hour for my skin.

The herbal heart mingles aromatic rosemary, with slightly green and camphorous quality, and pamplewood synthetic molecule, which adds a fresh bitterness. If I smell the scent directly from the sprayer, I get a delicious taste of blood orange juice, which I surmise is coming from the pamplewood. Conversely, on my skin, the heart hides some wet and powdery facets, as if the heart notes were featuring violet leaf.

The woody base rests on the earthy breath of the vetiver and a kind of dry wood. The vetiver is indisputably detectable, yet gentle, with its smoky, warm and bitter facets of chocolate as if there were also some modern patchouli. However, it is not the vetiver we're used to, as in Guerlain or Carven for instance. For me, there is also a hint of sweetness in the base, which appears quite soon in the heart and adds a twist akin to CD Sauvage, and I won't be surprised if tonka bean or the new normal ambroxan was contributing to this. The overall base is soothing and calming, it does not scream loud.

I don't think it is all too synthetic or scratchy. It captivates the attention without being too loud while relying on the subtle blending of its few notes. Both sillage and performance are averages, more than half a day on my skin and clothes. The fragrance does not fill the room but moves when you move. Perhaps, it is targeted towards a younger audience. Still, I do like it. The incredible freshness makes Reversed suitable for warmer days, Spring and Summer seasons fit the best. It is a daily safe, polite, and casual fragrance, for leisure time as well as office, or school, why not? Reversed is definitely an excellent compliment getter, outstandingly safe and stand out crowd-pleaser.

This review is based upon a 75ml bottle I own.

Stay well; stay healthy.

A refreshing taste of citrus
I've owned many Hugo Boss fragrances over the years just because majority of the releases from this house are safe buys. I felt the need to review this one mainly due to the refreshingly different surprise I got when I smelt it. I can almost taste the opening burst of refreshing citrus. It reminds me of a fizzy orange/lemon soda (in a good way of course). The dry down is a pleasant woody note which also retains the citric freshness as well. The downside is longevity and projection but I certainly don't mind having my bottle on hand all day.

The one
From some very specific perspective: its the percect fragance.

what if somebody in their 20’ or 30’s just want to pick an unoffensive fragance and use it all day, all season from beach to office? Probably pick the wrong one, because the whole youtube recommends the Sauvage for this, but well, its not a valid pick if you want an unoffensive one, because the sillage is more than a mile.

Okay, okay, than why this, soo musch similar fragrances out there!
Well, if someone want a safe one with 100% acceptance in office and a short-ranged longetivity to not frustrate your colleagues, wou can pick the YSL L’Homme (but it has a goodguy vibe), or the Montblanc Legend Spirit (But its a little sweet and bubblegum style) or the Prada L’homme (but its a much more professional vibe)
And what if you just want the fress citric smell in the sunshine and a woody smell at the night/winter? Well, than you are in the right place.

The Reversed is really simple yet wonderfully complex. Simple, because your smell is a fresh-citric-grapefruity if the weather is hot, and the drydown its a grapefruity-woody fresh dream. If its cold, the whole fragrance is different: after 20mins, you have no grapefruit, just a little freshness, but you have the woods. Everybody like it when you wear it.
Happily(for me) its sillage is really bad, you can smell it from not more than 20 cm, but its the reason why you can use it everywhere without every situation: When someone come closer, the smell is enough. When you walk somewhere, you are not terrorize people with 1-2 m sillage.
The longetivity is tricky: you not feel it everytime when its there, but its there for a good 6 hours.

Lemony something
I smelled it on paper first to make sure I like it and of course I did, because it was very simple.

But the nuances didn't show themselves until I got myself a bottle and now, my impressions are quite different.

It's fresh (though not as fresh as I expected), citrusy and woody, but there's an interesting herbal and spicy quality to it, which clashes with the rest of the blend and it reminds me of cinnamon, I guess it's the rosemary and vetiver working together.
This spicy tone sets this fragrance apart a little bit, but it can be a very "hit or miss" thing and if you were to remove it, you would be left with a generic cleaning product smell.

The performance is average, maybe a little better than most freshies.

I'd say you should test this first on your skin to see if you really like it - sadly I didn't, so I'm on the fence with this one.
Wore this mostly during Spring and early Fall, maybe this one needs the high heat to really open up, I'll give it a few more wearings.

Weirdly, it also leaves a sticky residue on my skin and none of my other scents do that.

A shower gel, but good
A simple, clean, and pleasant citrus-herbal fresh scent cosplaying a shower gel. If you don't mind this generic and slightly artificial quality, it's quite good. The citrus part is sweet and full, maybe a bit too sweet, bordering on insipid, and forms an interesting composition with the herbal aromatic part, which might be a tad too sharp, so if we were looking for problems, there would be this overly sweet - overly sharp pair. Grassy might be a better word than herbal, especially at the start.

One could say this is the extreme pop version of Terre d'Hermes, it doesn't get any more easy to wear than this. Is it similar to Bleu de Chanel? Kind of, in a way that a crayon drawing would be similar to an oil painting by the same artist.

I'm kind of surprised for what this offers. It's nothing new, but the citruses are very authentic. Not synthetic at all. Good Citrusy Woody.
