Summerfeeling
The hibiscus was and is for me a very special plant.
A piece of southern beauty that basks in sun and warmth with generous blooms, but refuses rain and wind: it loses its desire to bloom and also its radiant color.
An exotic-looking guest on the balcony or by the window; fussy and petty if everything is not as he expects.
That's why I was very amazed back in Rhodes: this plant, which trumps me with its own will, is planted there for hedges; whether path or parking lot borders - they consist of hibiscus plants, which are kept in shape just like that with a chainsaw - and still bloom richly.
However, they also have something in common with the one plant of mine: the flowers are up only around 10:00 and already at 18:00 they close again.
The "blue cocktail hour" or even nightlife remains foreign to them; their job is done!
They do not negotiate!
With my known soft spot for Jo Malone fragrances, of course I couldn't pass by a bottling of "Yellow Hibiscus".
What had one probably created here - again from only relatively few fragrance notes?
I spray and an almost kitschy yellow sun rises: Summerfeeling pure spreads!
Sympathetic lime freshness forms together with the very own scent of hibiscus' a surprisingly lively prelude.
Actually, I could pour it already now with Prosecco - Salute!
But of course the two beauties rose and jasmine do not allow that: without them there is no such exuberance! They join in fragrantly and immediately spray good mood.
Also musk thinks to have to have his share in this fragrance cocktail.
In the house of Jo Malone one leaves them their will, adds all together and then the shaker may circle: it is done!
Light, a bit tangy, floral and later all around soft and creamy, "Yellow Hibiscus" lolls contentedly with itself on the skin.
The impression of a scent place, which is gladly visited by fat bumblebees and boisterous butterflies and where the noisy cicadas feel at home, strengthens with the fragrance development during the unfortunately yet quite short time of durability.
As in the course of an afternoon gentle shadows over this fragrant picture, disappears also "Yellow Hibiscus" light-footed.
But its magic does not go completely: what remains is a quiet longing for something beautiful, bright; the image of a bright yellow hibiscus flower in the hair of a smiling woman or as the topping of a delicious cocktail.
Here I find a summer fragrance that, one might almost think, created especially after such a difficult period, promises no more than it delivers, but really spreads joy.
"Yellow Hibiscus" may stay and show me its beautiful sunny world until the bottling is empty.
Jo Malone has convinced me: no more and no less!
