Warm Vetiver, not new.
I like the concept: Oriental Vetiver. At first, it has a distinct cardamom note, making it spicy and immediately warm. The vanilla also comes in soon, rich and not too sweet, but the namesake sweet grass hardly comes through on my skin. That's a pity, as it lacks the cool-exotic counterpoint.
Overall, this Malone strikes me as somewhat borrowed from ELDO's Fat Electrician upon the second sniff, although I prefer the latter because it has a clearer vetiver and the chestnut cream is more refined.
As a base, there’s a slightly powdery tonka that makes an impression, but it again reminds me of JM's Myrrh Tonka. Oriental vetiver lovers will surely want to test this, but AugustA doesn’t need to have this one, even though it’s well made.

Don't be fooled by the name
I love discovery packages! Why? Because they help me discover scents I would never have noticed otherwise. I am a staunch opponent of any vanilla, outside of the base where it’s hard to avoid. And even though I like vetiver, I would never have thought to pick up a tester, let alone spray it on my skin, that already has vanilla in its name. Oh, what I would have missed...

The scent reached me within a discovery package and since the sink and Linda hand sanitizer were ready, I was brave enough to spray this sample on my wrist. What unfolded on my skin was not the dreaded vanilla bomb, but a sauna infusion, and I love saunas.
Completely perplexed by how something with such a dreadful name for me can smell so great, I sniffed my wrist every 5 minutes for the next few hours. It really smells like a sauna infusion. I can almost feel the heat. The scent is warm, spicy, soothing, and surprisingly complex for Jo Malone, in my opinion. Although only cardamom is listed as a spice, which is clearly noticeable, I feel like I can perceive a variety of other spices underneath. The vetiver brings in a slightly woody note, completing the image of the sauna for me.

My Thing with Jo Malone
I have a special relationship with Jo Malone fragrances. I am a total fan of the ... (what do I call it)...purity (?) of the scents. I would describe almost all from the house as "pleasant." However, I haven't found one that I would personally like to wear as a perfume. I think it's the perfect decision that Jo Malone sells their fragrances as candles, because for me, most of the scents are somehow really "candle scents" (even though it almost feels like a "sacrilege" to call such pleasant fragrances just that, but that's how I feel...).

But now to this specific scent: Vetiver & Golden Vanilla is one of the few fragrances from Jo Malone that I also see as a perfume. For me, it is a beautiful, warm spicy (rather masculine) vetiver scent. Nothing new, but simply pleasant!

For me, this is the best vetiver scent I have smelled so far. The vanilla is really only subtly noticeable and beautifully rounds off the whole experience. It's not particularly unique, but it is the fragrance for which I have received the most compliments from women in the short time I have owned it.

it would have been a mistake...
... not to buy it. Sprayed it in the store. Thought "oh this is definitely a men's scent, what a shame." Drove home. Regularly the bottle hung on my wrist, because now the vanilla was there. A warm, full vanilla. There is great annoyance, because the store is 45 minutes away from me. A week later, I can't take it any longer. Blissfully acquired the scent. Cardamom is clearly noticeable. The longevity is phenomenal. Sprayed it fresh and drove to work, and the seatbelt still smells after 2 weeks. Not a blind buy, you have to test it. But if the spark ignites, buy it. It is well on its way to becoming my new signature.

Vanilla dominates, I can also smell ginger and cardamom. Smells like Christmas cookies. Very good silage and is long lasting.

A lovely lightly spiced tea scent with a sweet vanilla base that reads like honey or cream. Not overbearing, mostly fresh, almost gingery

Unfortunately, smells exactly what the name promises: vetiver and vanilla :D It's a no for me, but a good choice if you like these notes

Vanilla with oak, or dense wood nuance that gives it an indescribable richness pasted between the gaps of a vetiver field.

I want to like this so badly. But it makes my nose itch like hayfever. The vetiver is a bit too much for me.

Reminds me of Eau de Baux with less dominant vanilla and a subtle cardamom note. It's nice, but I see it more on a man than on myself.

Less sweet than Eau de Baux, less sweaty than Fat Electrician, making it much nicer for me, pleasantly smoky, aroma of black tea with milk.
