Mandarin mines
A lot of classics, I don't count from Jo Malone. The brand is defined more by breadth and new releases than by the big names of the past. But "Lime Basil & Mandarin" is just that - a classic, the first and only true Jo Malone. A hotel and luxury and spa fragrance that simply does you good.
"Lime Basil & Mandarin" delivers what the name already says. Like most Jo Malones. But there is something about this herbaceous refresher that lifts him above the rest of the colourfully mixed portfolio. You can literally feel in the air that it is a Gamechanger. Someone who'll probably stay forever. It reminds me of an orange version of the Bulgari tea line - no coincidence that they were once intended for hotels and wellness facilities. "Lime Basil & Mandarin" withstands high temperatures, is a mixture of a forest clearing, a beach cocktail and... a goat cheese pizza?! If you want to snap your tongue bad, yeah. Mandarins were rarely more adult and more masculine. But of course also wearable by women. No matter how much green stuff there is. Pure relaxation and relaxation. Smells like a weekend quality time.
Flacon: unobtrusive and elegant
Sillage: inconspicuous and elegant
Shelf life: only 4 hours - but I sweat today (like all) but also inexorably...
Conclusion: a green-spicy mandarin - refreshing, bitter, ripe. Delicious. A little bitter. But you should be friends with Basilkum. Just before bursting and tipping and lazing, this noble little fruit.
