It’s good

I wasn’t sure about this perfume at first, and waited a little while before applying the sample to my wrists, making sure it was a couple hours before my shower in case I had to run to wash it off.

However, I’m happily surprised to really like it!

The scent is warm and soft, sweet and powdery floral, and a little bit sexy. I can smell the tonka bean, and cherry. To me it’s presenting a bit like TF Lost Cherry!

I keep smelling my wrists, and that’s a great thing, so I splurged on a bottle!

Sexy Signature Smell

I love this so much! It is powdery and creamy, slightly floral, and so comfortable. It has something that makes it feel fresh and easy to wear all year round, from dusk till dawn, and at the same time, it is somehow sexy as hell.

The only criticism I have is the same one I have for the house as a whole: please, improve the longevity! For the love of God, the scents are heavenly, but they just don't last. This one is not that bad, but it's also not a cheap perfume. The only reason I can get past it is because, for me, the scent and the feeling it gives (heaven and hell at the same time) are 10/10!

Cremiger Blütentraum für Männer und Frauen

Ich werde mich kurz fassen: Dieser Duft ist wunderschön: Er ist modern, aber doch mondän. Der Mohn und die Iris stehen im Vordergrund, aber die Tonkabohne gibt nach ein, zwei Stunden auch ihren Senf dazu; die Gerste verleiht dem ganzen den Feinschliff. Die Feige konnte ich jetzt nicht ausfindig machen, aber meine Nase ist auch noch nicht so geübt wie so manch eine andere. Die Noten verschmelzen in ein blumig-cremiges Prachtstück, das, meines Erachtens, jeder tragen kann, ob männlich oder weiblich, falls er/sie/* sich mit etwas weiblich angelehnten Düften wohlfühlt.
Auf meiner Haut bleibt der Duft mindest 10 Stunden erhalten; er ist teils sogar noch da, wenn ich am nächsten Morgen aufwache — eine Rarität für das Haus Jo Malone. Zum Layern ist er auch extrem gut geeignet; der Kreativität sind fast keine Grenzen gesetzt, nur vielleicht nicht mit Sécretions Magnifiques mischen :)

Cold season favorite.

The name is really spot on: Scarlet Poppy radiates warmth, radiates sweetness sprinkled with black poppy seeds all over a creamy, milky fig. She is my favorite scent for cashmere wraps and sweaters, she makes me feel cozy and protected, and I swear I can hear Christmas carols hummed somewhere in the background, although this is not really a Xmas scent. For me, Scarlet Poppy is strictly a winter girl: I would find her intolerable in the summer heat. Pretty good longevity, for a Jo Malone perfume. On clothes, this lasts for days.

Fluffy, airy cake

Mmmh, a grainy cake gourmand with powdery florals. Due to the tonka and heliotrope it has an almondy touch, but there's more to it. I love the barley note in this, it's really evocative and gives the scent a realistic bakery accord.
The fig ads a subtle touch of ripe fruitiness, but it might also have a milky facet to it. There is definitely something in this that makes me think of a milk-soaked pastry, maybe it's the milkiness of fig or maybe just a general impression I get from all the soft, sweet, creamy notes. Even though there is no vanilla listed, I find this vanillic.
In the drydown the iris powder comes out and dusts the whole scent in a layer of fresh, floral powder, so it never turns heavy or too sweet and has a certain dry coolness to it. This makes Scarlet Poppy a lighter, airier kind of gourmand that can easily be worn all year round, even on warmer days. I don't get the lipstick vibe some other reviewers mentioned though, on my skin the barley and tonka win over the iris.

I have never met a poppy that had a scent, so I'm not sure if this is true to the name at all. I could imagine that a poppyseed and almond cake would smell like this, but honestly, that could also be the power of suggestion.

The only thing I object to is that this is marketed as a Cologne Intense. It's not weak, but not really intense either, don't expect wonders from this. Scarlet Poppy would have been a perfect fit for the English Fields collection JM had a couple years ago.
