Rich, Resiny, Feminine Iris
Keiko Mecheri IRIS D’ARGENT is a rich, resiny, feminine iris perfume. There are no earthy notes here such as I detect in KM IRIS POURPRE, which is definitely closer to HIRIS, although the latter is more of an iris-carrot tops perfume, it seems to me... I would situate IRIS D’ARGENT, in contrast, closer to FERRE edp and Aqua di Parma IRIS NOBILE.

I was mystified by the characterization of this composition as more masculine than IRIS POURPRE and so decided to perform a side-by-side test, which merely confirmed my contrariness. (-: To my nose, IRIS D’ARGENT is clean and shiny and silvery and very perfumey, while IRIS POURPRE is darker and includes roots to which a bit of soil is still clinging and has a more pronounced chypre-like facet. These creations both smell splendid, but they are very different, featuring as they seem to very different parts of the iris plant.

I prefer IRIS D’ARGENT (lighter, with more iris flowers and no other plant parts) to IRIS POURPRE (darker, with more orris root and a somewhat vegetal aspect), and would love to add a bottle of the former to my collection. Both of these compelling creations are must-sniffs for iris aficionados!

post-acquisition update: I love this perfume!!!!

...never again...
salted lemons
perhaps also limes
a warm herb garden

sun floods in the sky
the heat we must endure
which soon fades away

a soft, bright glow
I feel the flowers weeping
so quiet, gentle, and cool

delicately silken green floating
spiderweb fragile life
light pale gray my feeling

I see green leaves dripping
and sky pearls knocking
on window, fence, and stone

I sense a constant soft rustling
pointed little ears listening
on the tiny cat's head

out! come, let us dance
let's not hide any longer
in the gloomy dry room

warm naked skin in the rain
never move again
out of this dream

Like a Sparkling Radiance
Once again, a Mecheri that has captured my heart in a whirlwind…

I like iris fragrances, I realized that quite quickly after my first tests. There is plenty of selection, but of course, there are also significant differences… It all started with the powdery representatives of its kind, foremost the infusion from Prada, which has probably been the iris entry point for many here. Then came the dusty-dry, carrot-like scents, which don’t quite align with my preferences. Then, of course, there is the woody variant, which scored full points with me in "Collection Extraordinaire - Bois d'Iris".

And finally, a sparkling, cool-silvery version, which has found a perfect representative in "Iris d’Argent".

The scent starts off slightly citrusy for me, radiating and cool, and it maintains this radiance as it develops. Iris and cedarwood play the main roles, while in the background, a subtle, woody warmth develops over time. It is not sweet, yet still very pleasing, not a bit dusty, very straightforward, with no surprises. I really enjoy this sparkling radiance; it conveys a touch of understated elegance.

The longevity for me is in a good medium range, the scent is wearable regardless of the season, perhaps preferred in the warmer seasons due to its cool character, and due to its unobtrusive nature, it is definitely suitable for everyday wear.

My association is a forest walk after a refreshing rain in summer, no thunderous storm, rather a light shower as a welcome cool-down after a hot day. The sun peeks out from behind the clouds, the raindrops dry on the leaves, moisture rises, everything lies under a silver veil. The air is fresh and has a faint scent of the essential oils of the plants.

Once again, a Mecheri that has convinced me, and which, due to a fortunate opportunity, has now also moved in with me. I’m looking forward to it…

Playing it safe
The perfumer has taken no risks with this fragrance. I find it hard to describe the scent without slipping into negativity, as it doesn't deserve that.

This is a well-made, almost perfect unisex fragrance for the warm season. The herb-fresh citrus note is inevitably part of the composition, but it somewhat stands alone in the top note. Then a very subtle iris note emerges, which, in my opinion, could have been a bit more pronounced; that would have made the transition to the somewhat green-resinous cedar softer. After all, the iris is also in the name, and that feels a bit overstated. The rounding off is ultimately done by the amber aroma.

Everything is quite perfect and beautifully crafted, but I miss a little Aha experience, a wink, or an elevation in the pyramid. I find it quite pleasant and would wear it, but Iris d`Argent does not trigger a buying impulse.

a Japanese garden in autumn
I have been wearing this fragrance for quite a while, but only over time here on Parfumo was I able to find the right images for this stylish creation.

To make it short. This fragrance is very straightforward, and therein lies its brilliance. The scent skips both the top and heart notes and rapidly develops its full bouquet. Its wearer is literally enveloped in a gentle cloud of amber and cedarwood, which, for the special note, was "stored" specifically for this fragrance at extremely high humidity to create the very individual note of the Keiko scent.
For the imagination:
"A walk in a Japanese garden at 30°, after a rain, and you breathe in the scent that lingers in the air deeply." (I don't know if it gets to 30° in autumn in Japan, but it fits the description right now:-), so)

The chypre accent of the base note as well as the iris and citrus notes play a rather homeopathic role and are only very subtly perceptible.

The fragrances from KM are generally long-lasting. The spicier they are, the longer this fragrance accompanies you. This also applies to the iris in this case.

This fragrance is also unisex for me, although the wearer must radiate a certain personality and maturity, as we have a scent with character here.

CORDULA GRÜN, I saw you dancing
and then had to go home with the boring Iris....
If 'it's okay' is enough, no heart.

In a shimmering silver dress, an arrogant high elf strides over dewy moss early in the morning. With a pure heart. Well-groomed + elegant.

Silver speckles on herbaceous green make this iris dress shimmer like a snake. Then it becomes lighter.

Starts citrus-sweet-lovely. Then powdery iris that becomes creamier and transforms into a freshly washed light blue terry towel...

A wonderful clear and bright iris, cool and radiant, straightforward and quite long-lasting - here the iris is not powdery at all - very beautiful!

A citrusy summer iris sparkles in the sunshine. Its smile is enchanting, but those who look closely will find a hint of melancholy.

This is quite a gem! It starts off fresh and then gradually introduces a creamy iris and delicate woods. Totally not sweet!!!

Delicate, light iris scent. A smooth operator that doesn't clash anywhere. Distantly related to Keiko's Hanae. Beautiful, but doesn't quite captivate me.

A great companion when you want something more subtle. Elegant, cool-earthy iris, completely unisex.
