Rebellion through softness?
To my nose, this definitely is a powdery cherry-almond and rose scent. It's not the same as Loukhoum and not even very similar, but both are in the same scent family and from the same house, and Loukhoum is such a reference scent for sweet almond and rose that it's hard not to compare these two. I like Rebel Hearts, but I like Loukhoum's special opulence even more.
Rebel Hearts is sweet, but not as extremely gourmand as Loukhoum, and its powdery notes are airier and fluffier.
It starts with a very recognizable amaretto note and a hint of syrupy cherry. It's warm and enveloping, but there is a hint of almost leathery bitterness underneath it, too, which comes from the patchouli. The jammy rose slowly blends in with the amaretto. Before I revisited the notes list I thought there would be some iris in this, because there is a dusting of smooth powder that keeps the scent from going too far into the boozy or syrupy direction.
This is not a rebellious fragrance at all, I find it very pretty and cozy. The only way I can explain the name is that it could describe a rebellion against the crudeness of the world from the depths of a soft and vulnerable heart. But maybe I'm over-analyzing this and the name is just a little off. It's a good scent either way.
