Spring at the Atlantic
I have only been to Tarifa once in my life. In 2005, we had a short holiday in Algeciras and drove around the whole area in our rental car as usual. It was early in the year, April or early May if I remember correctly. The weather was sunny but mostly stormy and there were hardly any tourists in this corner of Andalusia. The only people on the beaches - especially on Sundays - were the locals with their folding chairs and umbrellas. The scarce week we had, we could enjoy all the more without all the hustle and bustle.
I remember our car was tiny and not exactly the latest model, but at least the radio had a CD slot. In a department store we had quickly found the right music for this short trip. The heavy metal band Tierra Santa was especially popular with my metal lover Mr. Polly, which is why it was playing up and down in the car during the vacation days. We didn't know a word of Spanish at the time, but it was enough to sing along to a few lines of lyrics. The windows were rolled down and we bawled around the bet: Nací siendo libre, Y hoy quiero mi libertad.....
If Tarifa by Keiko Mecheri had been around back then, I'm sure it would have been a wonderful holiday companion for me. The enchanting orange blossoms and in addition the refreshing bergamots make me immediately think of holidays on the Atlantic coast. Amber notes in the base soften it and give it some sweetness along the way, but despite its floral richness and some warmth, this fragrance never gets too sultry for a spring vacation in Spain. Yes, this would have been a really good fit at the time. Overall, maybe a little tad too floral for me, but I like to make an exception for beautiful orange blossoms.
I wonder why I have not tested Tarifa earlier. I still remember the now discontinued Taormine from the 2010 summer series, which, however, left me rather cold. Tarifa I left on the other hand, no idea why.
Great innovations should not expect here, of course, but if someone should be looking for a nice spring or early summer fragrance that combines citrus notes and fine florals elegantly and brings a bit of sweetness into play, I think Tarifa fits quite great. The sillage is moderate and it actually lasts quite well on me. In not so hot temperatures, as we have them right now, maybe even a little longer. But, I like the and invites to repeat the holiday on the Atlantic coast perhaps one day.
Dear thanks to MadameLegras for the testing opportunity.
