Spring Waves

A spicy, woody fragrance with notes of ginger, white iris flower, and woods, with a hint of marine notes, one of the blue summer perfumes, but different from what is prevalent in the blue fragrances market.

The fragrance can be suitable for cold summer nights, but a little sharp and is more suitable for spring than summer.

The performance of the fragrance is fairly good considering its low price.
Longevity: few sprays last full day
Sillage: moderate

The fragrance bottle is good and has a light blue color, with a metal cap that adds quality to the bottle.

Great fragrance at a low price!

At first, the top note smells rather synthetic; however, this scent fades away after about 3 minutes. What remains is an aquatic-masculine fragrance that has a good sillage but is not so strong that you "stink" from too much perfume. The scent slightly reminds me of Legend Spirit by Montblanc, but Hollister Free Wave is a bit sweeter and more maritime for me.

Overall, it's a good fragrance that you can't go wrong with.

With 5-6 sprays, the scent lasts for about 4.5 hours.

My conclusion: An affordable summer fragrance that has good quality and doesn't smell as synthetic as those 5 Euro discount fragrances.

Absolutely underrated, better than many bestsellers!

Very, very nice, simple, and yet fresh scent. Aquatic, fresh, and lemony - personally reminds me of vacation, summer, and good vibes. I find the scent sometimes better and fresher than common bestseller all-rounders like CK One, Dior Sauvage, and Co.

Longevity is so-so, but the sillage is great. One to two sprays in the air are enough, and the whole living room is filled with it. I also find the bottle very appealing and simple. An absolute and often used all-rounder for me.

Good, Sweet-Aquatic Cheapie

Free Wave for him by Hollister is a solid EDT. Interchangeable? Yes. Synthetic? Also. Aquatic? Not exclusively. And yet, I quite like it.

It is fresh despite the slight sweetness. In the style of CK One, you can also smell parallels to it. That one is fresh despite the slight sweetness as well. The synthetic notes are also kept in check. I recently tested 2 other fragrances from Hollister in the drugstore, and they were horrendous in comparison to Free Wave, sweetly swirling and synthetic. Admittedly, I personally do not pick out the individual components of Free Wave. But what I can say is that the scent refreshes me and accompanies me briefly before or after sports, after showering, and especially on warm days. It has replaced CK One in my collection because it covers exactly this niche. At the affordable price (ranging from €12-20), both a test and a blind purchase are worthwhile.

“Free Wave” is not a fragrance innovation, but it doesn’t have to be. I think the name fits what you get. A fresh, spicy, and slightly sweet aquatic.
It adapts to any everyday situation and gives the wearer a feeling of cleanliness.
Not every fragrance needs depth or development.
It is very pleasant and the longevity is quite decent. Hollister once again showcases its strength in aquatic and fresh scents. They are usually very simple but also very solid. I think everyone needs at least one simple “Easy to wear” fragrance in their collection.
The bottle is surprisingly high-quality for the price range. Heavy milk glass with a blue metal cap. It looks quite elegant and reminds me a bit of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue.
