L'Eau par Kenzo Eau Indigo pour Femme Kenzo 2009

L'EAU PAR KENZO INDIGO POUR FEMME is a sultry oriental to my nose, especially in the early stages, when I'd swear there was incense or something along those lines here. I agree that the general atmosphere is indigo: the sky at midnight.

Upon initial application I was wondering why this was called "L'eau", and it didn't seem very Kenzoid to me either. However, INDIGO becomes more and more powdery as it dries down, eventually leaving behind a layer not unlike the famous Kenzo FLOWER powder. I also find some overlaps here to Bvlgari BLV NOTTE.

I like INDIGO, and if I didn't already own BLV NOTTE, which covers some of the same olfactory territory, I might acquire a bottle. Definitely worth sniffing for those who appreciate oriental perfumes.

It is always exciting when a random fragrance catches my eye, because immediately I believe that it is fate, something beyond my control, that draws me in and urges me to love a new and unique scent.

Perhaps it was the beautiful purple coloured bottle that attracted me or the name of this fragrance that made me anxious to test this.

What hit me was a deep, sensual and unique scent which had been composed beautifully. The fruity top notes were subtle yet rich and sweet, with the slight presence of the plum note lingering underneath the fruits and the flowers. This scent is odd, but in a way that it makes you love this fragrance even more.

Eau Indigo transports me to some far off land, a tropical and fertile rainforest filled with luscious and rare fruits with clear, luminous starry skies.

When the tropical fruitiness passes, Eau Indigo softens into a powdery ylang ylang and jasmine blend. Strangely enough, as a child I owned a doll called 'Baby Born' which smelt exactly like this fragrance's drydown.

When I smell this fragrance, I can imagine wearing this at night and during colder months because it is so warm and mysterious. I dare to admit that I find this fragrance incredibly sexy.

Like Vertigo mentioned earlier, the colour indigo certainly matches this fragrance with its depth, mystery and darkness. I am eager to add this fragrance to my growing collection as it would add a different aspect and variety to what I already wear.

My fragrance preferences are not always particularly suitable for everyday wear or colleague-friendly, as I usually prefer the real powerhouses, especially the old ones with a good punch. So it was necessary to acquire a scent that simply works all the time and doesn’t bother anyone. Among my numerous fragrances, there was none such (!). Or rather, not the right one, you know...

Actually, I’m not really into the Kenzos, but I had been circling around Indigo for quite a while, and every test convinced me anew. Since I had a voucher to redeem and also had to endure a bit of criticism from my colleagues (okay, Moschino was indeed quite overdone, it can happen!), I seized the opportunity to finally get it.

To get straight to the point: I love it. It’s perfect when you want to smell subtly yet heavenly, when you have no idea which fragrance to choose, or when your nose simply needs some caresses. For me, this is not just a great spring and summer scent, but the perfect “go-to” for all occasions. It would be too quiet for going out, though.

Indigo starts off a bit herb-fresh but quickly becomes very soft. I can’t pick out any individual notes, but it’s not always necessary to dissect beautiful scents into their components. Indigo is subtle, soft, rounded, gentle, hardly sweet, just delicately floral, powdery, and in a very grown-up way. Simply totally pleasant. One can easily spray a bit more. It remains perceivable as a delicate veil for several hours.

I can’t imagine anyone having anything negative to say about this scent. The only thing some might criticize is that Indigo is indeed rounded, completely without edges or corners. That doesn’t bother me, because a woman needs one like that too. And that’s why this wonderful nose caresser gets a smooth 100 percent from me.

Why do they always take away the most wonderful fragrances? Luckily, I still have Bachup of it. A wonderfully delicate woody note, absolutely feminine. The flowers are soft and caressing, the jasmine accompanies and does not take the lead, a truly wonderful ylang. The whole thing is accompanied by a wonderfully balsamic amber in the base. A bit creamy overall, very lightly powdery. Truly melt-in-your-mouth and soothing. The sillage is perfect; even when I apply it generously, it’s not too much, and it lasts great. Such fragrances are rare in the usual drugstores. Kenzo should consider a relaunch.

The scent for angels, or those who want to become one.

How can a fragrance be so enchantingly soft, so protective and soothing?

How does a scent manage to make one take a deep breath even in the midst of great anger and conjure a blissful, contented smile?

Whenever the divine fragrance wafts into one's nose, one forgets for a brief moment all the negative influences around that occasionally like to ruin the day.
A delicate protective veil wraps around the aura, radiating lovingly warm both inward and outward.
A scent that brings harmony and security through its mild sweetness, its very subtle florals, and its dreamily flattering, creamy powderiness. It gently caresses the soul, provides comfort, and instills confidence.

For me, Yang Yang, golden-creamy amber, and slightly sweet plum dominate, with a sensuous tonka bean.
A fragrance that gains sensuality by the hour, but does not consciously seduce; rather, it allows its counterpart to open their arms in a completely natural, innocent way.
Yes, the scent is innocent. So pure of all evil. Soft, round, clean, and cuddly, it merges with the skin and becomes an angelic being.

I have sprayed on an angel, No! I have become one. Hard to believe, but that's how I feel!
And so we float for a few hours in cozy intimacy through the day, far from sorrow and worries.

In my opinion, a true insider tip among fragrances, which, as I see it, has only a few followers.
At times, it reminds me a bit of L'instant magic by Guerlain. And if you like that one, you should definitely try this one too. The Indigo is, however, even a touch more delicate. A scent between heaven and earth, beyond the horizon or in another world.
