You little sister of the lady with a lot of money...
In search of dupes in my fragrance collection, I came across numerous scents from the La Rive series.
Of course, as a teenager, I had sweet fragrances now and then, which I only received as birthday gifts... nothing special, and I took the rest from my mother since she didn't want to try her gifted, expensive, and sometimes luxurious perfumes.
But I only recently discovered my love for perfumes in my mid-20s...
Since I am not the typical girl, having grown up in the South Thuringian Forest after my mother took me from Berlin as a little rascal, I primarily interacted with boys and generally dresses were not my thing, typical girly things didn't really appeal to me.
Today, this is somewhat different.
I have returned to my homeland, enjoy putting on makeup, take care of my hair, and maintain a generally well-groomed appearance; a stain on my pants or shirt drives me crazy, I have tons of nail polishes and lipsticks.
I am a bit more vain, need to shower every day to feel clean... unless I am out with my boys for a few days on the outskirts of town.
But fragrances? ...Not a chance!
After my recent birthday and the associated voucher I received for GK, I was initially very upset. I wandered aimlessly through the shopping center.
Every other girl would have known exactly where to go.
I, on the other hand, stood there frustrated, formulating one voice message after another directed at my mother, which I ultimately didn't send.
Two days later, I looked at my shelf in the bathroom, which only had 2 fragrances that I occasionally wore.
Both were almost empty.
Without a voucher and with 2 more fragrances in my shopping bag, I left the store.
Here in the forum, I started writing my first two reviews and set out to search for even more.
I have taken a liking to browsing here and discovering possible new treasures for my currently small collection of fragrances.
I tend to prefer powdery/floral/fresh and transparent scents.
I felt the urge for Kenzo 'Flower' again, but the price hits the wallet so hard that you hardly dare to waste even a spritz.
As a solution to my problem, I came across numerous lists and blogs with dupes.
So, a perfume called 'Cash' is supposed to be a scent twin of the million-dollar lady from Paco Rabanne?
I am familiar with the original scent.
I now find it rather average since a time broke out when this perfume was hyped and almost every 3rd woman wore it in an exaggerated way.
I have simply 'over-smelled' it.
And I don't actually feel drawn to sweet/heavy scents.
However, since so much good has been reported about La Rive in general and their dupes, I stepped into the minimalist perfume department at K....land yesterday.
There it was... the bottle with the scent that so many are talking about.
One package had already been opened.
A decent spray on my
wrist left me with a visibly surprised expression.
The first whiff was admittedly a bit intense, but after a while, the scent developed into a pleasant/sweet cloud.
I kept smelling it again on my wrist to hypnotize myself with this scent once more.
I find this note softer and rounder than the original.
I would have never thought it possible to feel drawn to a sweet scent compared to my powdery/floral fragrances.
Sure, it’s a dupe.
Still somehow more pleasant.
The scent lasted a good 6 hours before it faded away.
At that price, a successful little sister with thousands in her wallet that can definitely be appreciated.
