Strange Kiss
Since I love fragrances that contain patchouli, I received this scent from an acquaintance. For her, it was an absolute mispurchase and only used once or twice. Just bought a few days ago. I have nothing against discounted items, but La Rive and I haven't been getting along lately.
You shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth... so I bravely tested it. The beginning, as always with La Rive, is dominated by a lot of hairspray. Shortly after, pear and bergamot were supposed to come, but all I smelled was plastic. Plastic runs through the entire fragrance, and combined with the fruits, which I couldn't smell individually, it created a mix reminiscent of fermented fruit. The rose scent, rather artificial, doesn't improve the concoction either. The dry down is then a colorful, synthetic mix that seems more show than substance. Patchouli is detectable in homeopathic doses. Everything is overwhelmed by the gibberish of the fragrance notes. In summary, it's muggy, indefinable, and artificial.
Unfortunately, I see no resemblance to La Nuit à Tressor. Anyone who knows this scent like I do and is looking for a dupe should better steer clear. I find La Nuit à Tressor pleasant, but it's not a candidate for purchase for me. The longevity is very long. Certainly pleasing for fans of the fragrance. Not for me, as it triggers the precursor to a migraine. Washed off with a sodium mixture.
The bottle is yet another unwieldy close-combat weapon that I don't like.
So this fragrance won't be moving into my cabinet either. It will probably end up in the trash. I wouldn't want to subject it to anyone else.
