mega delicate oud-rose scent
all rose oud fans must try this - I find it even better than Lalique Perles - great intense rose, very woody - there's no annoying sweet vanilla or saffron here - just fresh, super beautiful rose. and that for little money. longevity is in the good middle range, the scent lasts at least 6 hours.

Light and Shadow Play
"My God, what a scent." was the first thing that came to mind when testing "Rose Oud" by Les Senteurs Gourmandes. But the perfume has nothing to do with "gourmand" as the name of the fragrance house might suggest.
This olfactory delight goes in a completely different direction. Rosy, spicy, and woody.
Indeed, there are many fragrances that head in this direction. However, it is executed wonderfully in "Rose Oud" for me.
It is a kind of light and shadow play. In olfactory form.
Once I look into a room with a large window that almost takes up the entire wall, through which the sun shines. And depending on the time of day or season, the shadows of the furniture and objects are cast differently, giving a different shape, length, and direction.
On a summer morning, when the sun casts almost harsh, long shadows, it is quite different on a spring evening, subtle and almost "translucent." And on a winter afternoon just before sunset, the shadows have a slightly "gloomy" quality to them.
The oud and saffron that appear first announce an autumn afternoon that is still light and bright, but the shadows already have a "good length," and the light is milder and softer.
When the beautiful roses then join in, I find myself in early summer, around noon, when the sun is almost vertical and casts short little shadows. The light is radiant and bright, awakening all spirits of life.
And (at least I smell it this way)... patchouli not listed in the fragrance pyramid and certainly also vetiver, make me think of a December evening when the low sun mysteriously announces the soon-to-come darkness with super long shadows.
The "room" then becomes an "open-air stage," where large chess pieces play with their shadows according to the position of the sun.
And every imaginary "move" perceives everything in a completely different light.
For me, "Rose Oud" has a structure that reminds me of the "better" Lutens fragrances, also in terms of longevity and sillage....

The Wild Rose and Her Stubborn Admirer
This fragrance contains the following:

-Saffron - Rose - Leather-

Exactly my (new) direction - just recently, I could be hunted with Oud, saffron, and leather, so these wonderful fragrance notes are now an integral part of my life.

Rose Oud starts opulently and fills the room - the powerful rose comes first, followed closely by the Oud note.
The scent strongly reminds me in the first 2-3 minutes of -hold on-

Rose d'Arabie L'Or du Désert by Armani Privée!

Woah, I thought, this comes just in time - finally an "affordable" alternative to my dream fragrance! Jump jump!

But not everything that glitters is... you know -_-

The fragrance changes, it becomes more subdued, calmer, yet still has edges and corners - so it's not a scent that merges into itself! Must be the saffron.

What remains unchanged is the -very powerful- rose; since I'm not really a fan of roses, I find it a bit too strong in the foreground - but for rose lovers who enjoy characteristic scents, they should definitely give this one a try.

It does indeed have some similarity to Rose d'Arabie L'Or du Désert, but you can tell that Rose Oud comes from a different price range. It is not as refined as its big counterpart.
Nevertheless, it is well wearable and is by no means mainstream! It’s too complicated for that!

As for longevity, I give it 4 out of 5 stars, as it lasts for hours.
But despite everything, it is not for those obsessed with sillage, as this one, despite its idiosyncrasies, is a skin scent; it digs deep into the skin and stays put.

Somehow I now smell a hint of dish soap... Palmolive??

I have still added it to my collection because, as mentioned, keyword "Rose d'Arabie L'Or du Désert"...

Well then, as I said - try it, and then you'll know!

Rose bush. Thorn bush.
Not sweet, cool. Fresh in the genre with dentist Oud.
Sublime rose in the autumn wind.
Unmatched gothic.

Not bad at all. The rose-oud-saffron combo is definitely overdone, but here it’s very straightforward and a bit sharp.

Here is the rose, you won't believe it,
gloomy and bitter-looking.
She's wearing a leather jacket and coolly waving with saffron.

Soft, slightly seductive, and very attractive rose with subtly blended saffron, delicate leather, and a wearable hint of oud. Fits well.

You get what it says: rose and a slightly scratchy, but not animalic, oud. The rose is in the foreground.

Very potent rose. Slightly creamy soapiness.
The saffron gives it a metallic shine.

Starts with saffron, which smells different here, somewhat soapy.
The drydown is a bit rosy & very leathery.

November roses, birch tar, and mild spice. Smells "more expensive" than it is. A floral-woody dream in purplish violet. Velvety dark, slightly bitter.

Intense, dark winter rose! A bit unconventional. Very affordable price!
