The girl next door
I would describe this fragrance as opposite Jo Malone anything. Musc Blanc is light, warm, and barely there. This is little miss goody two shoes on the block, no pow, no wow, just,"I'm a Lady" ( done in my sexiest southern drawl).

This would be a nice church, meet the parents, or PTA meeting fragrance. It's very inoffensive and soft.

I can see myself layering this fragrance with a sharp floral, something like Violet Blonde. The muskiness is very nice, smooth, velvety but I would need a layer of a wham bam thank you ma'am on top of it because this fine lady is a little too camera shy for me.

Heavy on the Tarragon, Soft on the Skin
This is a easy to wear clean white musk with less body and depth than Jovan White Musk or The Body Shop White Musk but with a unique Tarragon and Ambrette Top that is worth sampling. I adore white musk, in spite of the fact that they are about as popular as Merlot and Chardonnay right now (i.e., not popular at all). I recently discovered my HG White musk to be OSMO's "Musc Bleu" and I am very much in love with my new full bottle of that scent. Comparatively, Musc Blanc by Les Senteurs Gourmandes is a better value for a simple, every day White musk skin scent that is powdery, slightly sweet, delicate and very clean. It never goes sour and is incapable of even the hint of animalic sensuality. This is a scent that is appropriate for any occasion, office, gym, pool party, airport- you name it. The sillage is restrained and it last only about 3-4 hours. Any age group can wear this and although slightly feminine, could make an economically layering base for a Man, as well. Some may find the tarragon a little high pitched and headache inducing at times. Is it swoon worthy, not really. But I don't regret blind buying this one, because it is never wrong.

A simple, slightly sweet, skin scent
Fresh as a baby's bottom is how you will smell, if you choose to don Laurence Dumont Les Senteurs Gourmandes MUSC BLANC. Simple, clean, and very slightly sweet. This is one of the simplest musk compositions I've ever smelled, and I must say that I do not notice the tarragon or the ambrette in this blend at all. Nor do I detect any flowers. No, what I smell is clean, clear musk--almost a "not a perfume" perfume, to be honest.

My only complaint about this likeable, socially acceptable even to perfume haters creation is that the opening salvo of alcohol nearly knocked me out. But I'd say that anyone who is looking specifically for a not at all perfumey clean musk, should give this modestly priced and well-named creation from Laurence Dumont a sniff.

Simple and Good!
A perfume brand that carries the fragrance direction "Gourmand" in its name is unlikely to capture my primary interest. Nevertheless, there is one scent that does not seem to follow the vanilla plus X pattern: Musc Blanc!

After I - to my surprise - recently discovered some really good musk fragrances, I decided to give it a test. To get straight to the point: this Musc Blanc from this relatively new brand deserves attention. It is nothing refined at first glance, no exhausting complexity - just simple musk!

The musk is of the creamy, milky kind. It reminds one of skin cream and other cosmetic products, but without ever becoming overpowering. This sets Musc Blanc apart from much of what has been released in the past in the realm of musk fragrances.

What stands out is its extremely subtle nature. Besides the musk, we don't smell much else, and the fragrance intensity is pleasantly restrained. Sure, there are more exciting musk fragrances: particularly worth mentioning are the Musc by Keiko Mecheri and Psychotrope from Parfumerie Générale. As great as they are, they can also be overwhelming, as they demand a lot of attention.

The absence of this intensity can certainly be seen as an advantage for Musc Blanc. Musc Blanc is well-suited for the office, or simply on those days when you need something simple that remains just a background.

Thus, Musc Blanc is recommended to fans of this fragrance direction as an everyday perfume. Musc Blanc also delights with its pleasantly reasonable price of currently €26 / 100ml. It's rare to find a good perfume in this price category! However, I wouldn't want to overlook its classification as a pure women's fragrance. A creamy musk that has hardly any floral or sweet notes - it works very well on men's skin too!

Not just clean, but deeply pure!
In search of the perfect musk fragrance Part IV
On the multiple recommendation of my dear fellow perfume lovers, I bought this scent, how could it be otherwise, BLIND. So it wasn't the blind purchase that was recommended to me, but of course the fragrance! As the year comes to a close, I now have the title "Queen of Blind Purchases 2013" almost securely in my pocket! In this case, the special appeal was that a 200 ml bottle of shower gel was included in the set, and I thought to myself, if the scent turns out to be useless, at least I’ll be clean. And the perfume could then serve as a laundry spray. One must think practically.

With great anticipation, I spray it on. Yes, this is definitely musk. The clear, pure, clean kind. Nothing spectacular, but that doesn’t have to be the case. I don't perceive anything floral. In particular, the lily of the valley, which I was a bit afraid of, behaves itself nicely. It smells clean and later slightly powdery, but, and I must unfortunately say this, on my skin it also smells a little synthetic. There is no scent development; essentially, you get in the base what you already smell at the beginning. For an EdP, Musc Blanc is a bit weak in terms of both sillage and longevity. After just two to three hours, it runs out of steam.

Unfortunately, Musc Blanc does not win the title "The perfect musk fragrance for Kleo." To be a cuddly and snuggly scent, as I would like it to be, it lacks a bit of warmth in my opinion, as I find it rather cool, with a hint of sweetness and something else that I can't quite name, that certain extra. But there's always something. You can't go wrong with this fragrance anyway, and for the price, you can't complain either. It will surely do well during sports and in spring.

But even though I haven't found the Holy Grail of musk this time either, I am satisfied for now. I am now creating my perfect musk fragrance myself: My new acquisition, the beautiful, powdery-creamy Princess Musk by Ajmal, which unfortunately does not smell like musk, is wonderfully compatible with pure musk fragrances. And then the following comes out of it: A musk fragrance personally created by Cleopatra, which is warm, soft, cuddly, powdery, and not too sweet, yet feminine and a real compliment magnet!

P.S.: This series may continue in a loose sequence, because you never know…

Uhu liquid glue and some nasty, slightly musty note give me the creeps. Later it gets floral and soft, but the glue lingers.

Phew…there's some awful "stink" at work here…a mix of mushrooms, stinky feet, and ironing spray…not for me ;-)…

I only perceive it on fabric. Fluffy towels from a big hotel, a bit chemical. Plus a light peach shampoo note. Sounds...

Wow, it smells like glue and mushroom cream soup. Funny what you can find!

It really smells strange and a bit like glue. Must be tarragon. Then a delicate lily of the valley note and poof, it disappears.

Short intermezzo - really beautiful, very clean scent! Smooth and light. Unfortunately, it disappeared on me after 1h.

Yes, I like musk, but this one is SSSOOOOO boring. Sorry, it’s not bad, but so one-dimensional with very low H+S.
