caught off guard...
...no, I'm not cute!
...no, I don't want to smell powdery-sweet-delicious!
...no, I'm an adult, there's no need to come at me with that stuff!

Oh man, if only I had known beforehand what possibilities exist in the world of fragrance!!!

Such a scent, if someone had described it to me beforehand, I would have NEVER tried it before! Because, I'm a woman, I stand with both feet on the ground, with my legs in the midst of life, and I wear jeans. I'm not some girl with painted nails, a curling iron, and all that stuff! I need something substantial, something that makes people take me seriously!!!

But first of all, things turn out differently, and second, than one thinks:

Lilau sent me this sample and I admit, when I had the sample in my hand, I had already forgotten what was written in the descriptions. So I only read something about vanilla and violet. I thought of purple flowers with a bit of vanilla, I had no further associations. Above all, I would have never suspected something gourmand.

And then...the BOMB (but a soft one;) )!!!

Yes, it is sweet,
yes, it is vanilla,
yes, somehow it is violet-purple,
yes, it is a bit powdery,
yes, it smells delicious (but not like food, just really good).

The rose makes it elegant and prevents the scent from becoming "artificial." That never happens, contrary to my fears.

AND: I have found THE substance for myself. It is benzoin. It has already caught me in two other, albeit completely different scents, and now I recognize it. Benzoin stays until the end and rounds everything off.

A dream in purple.

For me?

*blushing*

YES!!!

Maybe I should consider painting my nails after all;)
P.S.:
The longevity is great, the scent stays with me all day (!) both on my skin and in my hair.
It is not a scent that comes around the corner more than its wearer, but also not just close to the skin, it is like a little layer of cloud around me.

Was there something?
I have now worn "Vanille Violette" for three days. I can only report on the first:

The scent is floral, with a hint of spiciness coming from somewhere, otherwise it is still musky-soft with little sweetness. Vanilla doesn’t really come through for me. At the end of the day, I thought: A bit more spiciness or something woody would be nice. Or better "nicer," because that’s how I would characterize V V: quite nice for spring or summer.

On days 2 and 3, I sprayed V V in the morning, noticed the floral part ... and then completely forgot about the scent. Only in the late afternoon or evening did I think: Was there something? Nothing reminded me throughout the day that I had sprayed a scent in the morning: Nothing lifted, nothing urged my nose towards my wrist, there was nothing left.

I thank Ahoi for the opportunity to test.

Skillful blend of vintage and gourmand
Our grandmothers and great-grandmothers loved them: really beautiful old-fashioned violet and lily of the valley waters! Nowadays, such things have fallen out of fashion, just like the wonderful English chocolates with candied violets and rose petals, whose sugary content almost tastes perfumed.
Vanille Violette reminds me exactly of these chocolates.
Right upon spraying, you are enveloped in a floral-sweet cloud that truly seems to consist exactly half of vanilla and violet scent, while other notes remain mere footnotes. At first, there is a hint of freshness in the top note, but this quickly fades, and the whole fragrance becomes creamier and increasingly gourmand-vanilla-like.
You really have to like this old-fashioned violet scent, which always comes across as somewhat powdery-soapy, yet is also wonderfully nostalgic; otherwise, you might not get much out of this fragrance.
However, if you like it and are not averse to vanilla scents, you should give it a try. It’s a combination that is hard to find otherwise. Floral or fresh violet scents are more common, but in combination with gourmand, it’s something different, quite well done, with a nice clear, naturally occurring violet note and warm, pleasant vanilla that does not smell chemical or artificial.
It convinces me, even though I won’t be buying a whole bottle of it.
The scent lasts quite long (about 8 hours) and is neither too light nor too strong, but well wearable without the need for constant reapplication.
Thanks to Nandini for the sample!

Flowers with Cuddle Factor
I am currently testing a few fragrances from the Les Senteurs Gourmandes series.
After being very indecisive about which one to choose from this line, I finally settled on this one. And why? Because this floral scent comes across as so cuddly, warm, and gentle that I would love to wear it all the time.

I never thought these flowers would enchant me so much, but I must agree with the previous commenter; at first, these flowers come across as very powerful and very sweet, but for me, they develop very softly and creamy-powdery, allowing me to endure that brief moment. For me, it is by no means a cheap scent, but very natural and not synthetic at all. If someone values natural ingredients or is sensitive to fragrance substances, these scents can be highly recommended.

The longevity is perfectly fine; I find this fragrance to be one of the longest-lasting in this series. At first, it even has a slightly fresh note with bergamot, then a sea of lily of the valley and violets, sweet, yes, but not artificial or overwhelming.
I only notice the rose in passing.
Then everything fades out very warm, soft, and beautifully creamy, just slightly woody. Yes, for those who like such scents, this is a great choice.

Vanille Violette can actually be worn anytime, for cuddling or at work, not intrusive, but rather subtle, yet not too subtle.

Well, and now I have a test sample of Les Senteurs Gourmandes-Vanille Abricot. But that will be another story.

I don't get it. Really don't.
Can someone explain it to me? Or anyone?

Why are the fragrances by Laurence Dumont so popular? Why are they recommended all the time and rated so highly?

They don't cost much. There are quite a few of them in many different nice colors. The bottles look quite valuable for this price range. A gift. Is that it?

"Vanille Violette" even has a very nice opening. Creamy-cool, elegantly delicate sweetness only in the background. I'm sticking my nose to my wrist. More of this please! I don't know what violets smell like, but I believe the flowers are responsible for it. This scent phase lasts about 10 minutes.

After that comes the thick end. Vanilla. Sweet. And in my nose also cheap. That's why this was probably my last vanilla attempt in this line.

Vanilla plays a supporting role: the blooming heart notes dominate with floral scents, inviting a resinous spice. Quite nice - nothing more!

Reminiscent of childhood, infinitely cozy-soft, long-lasting - pleasant despite violet & lily of the valley - rare! You have to be in the mood for it.

Beautiful clean man’s scent. Definitely has Flower by Kenzo vibes. Musk, violet, and rose are especially prominent.

Smells floral-clean. The vanilla only comes through very weakly and late for me. But I like it.
