Snickerdoodle/L de LL Clone

Long ago I blind purchased L de Lolita Lempicka. At first I disliked it because what I was expecting—something aquatic—and what I sprayed—a baked goods gourmand—were two entirely different things. It took a little time but I grew to love that quirky spiced cookie scent. Fast forward a few years to find me mourning my emptied bottle due to (a.) regular use and (b.) bad bottle design, which led to leakage. I was in the process of moving when I’d wrapped up my one-third full bottle and packed it away. When I unpacked I found the box it was packed in smelled delightful and my bottle was dry as a bone. I nearly cried and turned to the internet for solace. I was rudely surprised to find that quirky scent was discontinued. Alas, I was left to find a suitable replacement.

Tendre Madeleine is as close a clone to L de LL as I could find. This is as much a bakery treat as L de LL but it lacks some of the nuance that made L de LL a cult favorite. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Maybe I can attribute that nuanced next level element to the immortelle, but TM is definitely missing that indefinable something. Does that mean I don’t love TM? Absolutely not! I really get a kick out of wearing TM, with its snickerdoodle goodness, but that’s all it has to offer. L de LL never forgot it was a perfume; TM doesn’t seem so sure. But, given the prices for L de LL, TM satisfies my baked goods sweet tooth just fine.

Fluffy Vanilla Muffins

The famous Lira killer, one of the absolute price tips... and it delivers on its promise! For gourmand fans who don’t want to break the bank right away, it’s definitely a revelation.

Tendre Madeleine smells cozy, fluffy, full of vanilla pastry. But the kind of muffins that melt on your tongue - fluffy, airy, perfect. Not too sweet, but vanilla & a bit of caramel are clearly the dominant notes. Very linear, strikingly delicious, even more striking in price. Rightly generating a lot of buzz, if you like to smell like treats, you really can't go wrong here. I already have enough similar scents in my collection, but I still find myself sniffing the sprayed spot quite often: simply delightful!

Bottle: unspectacular & normal
Sillage: strong & cuts through cooler air layers
Longevity: you wouldn’t notice anything from the minimal budget - 8 hours & more

Conclusion: a successful alternative to the ten times more expensive Lira, which is just a tiny bit more delicious & above all much more complex! But is that price difference worth it?

Who is this Lira and why is everyone talking about her :)

Who is this Lira that everyone is talking about? I don't know her. But I know the Madeleine!
I tested the good Madeleine based on recommendations through a sample. My associations: cake batter for lemon cake, delicious Madeleines, cheesecake. Wonderfully sweet and warm, a bit citrusy, a bit vanillic. A nice balance. Suitable for absolute sweet tooths. The longevity and sillage could be a bit better in my opinion, but I feel that way about almost all sweet gourmands that aren't full of oriental spices. I think a good price/performance ratio is already given here.

Addendum: I have now gotten to know Lira. She is more lemony and fresher and, of course, has a better sillage/longevity for such a price as expected. Tendre Madeleine is a bit more pastry-like, cake batter-like. There is definitely a similarity that cannot be denied, but those who have fallen in love with Lira will never be completely satisfied by the Madeleine :D

Good Lira Dupe

I am testing both fragrances in parallel and I can't smell a difference in the first 30 minutes. It starts with a zesty orange opening that transitions into sweet orange dough after 1 minute. After about 10 minutes, both take on a lemon cake vibe. While Lira remains beautifully rounded, Tendre Madeleine has a slightly bitter note creeping in the background (not bothersome) - otherwise, they are quite similar. After 1 hour, Lira smells lighter, comparable to lemon cream, while TM is more like lemon cake batter. For me, TM even lasts longer :-) If the small but fine difference doesn't bother you, TM is a great dupe.

The Evil Twin

The fragrance pyramid of this scent caught my eye some time ago, promising, and I thought the comments were also quite interesting.
Since I have only had bad experiences with blind purchases so far and unfortunately the scent is not available for sniffing anywhere else, I set it aside ...

However, I then came across the information that Tendre Madeleine is said to smell similar to Xerjoff's Lira.
When a well-known online shop also opened a window for it, I jumped at the chance and ordered the Vanilla Bourbon from Les Senteurs Gourmandes right away!

What can I say ... The first blind purchase that hit like a bomb! In my opinion, from start to finish, it is 100% the identical "evil" twin of Lira! Why evil?

Because it:

1. is more intense than Lira and
2. has significantly better longevity - T.M. also has the edge in terms of sillage.
3. The best difference is the price! 75ml Lira = 219 € - 100ml T.M. = 26 €!

T.M. is simply a dream of a fragrance! Anyone looking for a scent that is warm-hearted, sensual, and playful will find it perfectly here. Moreover, T.M. feels very elegant and valuable, just like its twin Lira.
