Paper but not the ink
Ink Mark was the one I was excited about most in the new collection from LV, since I thought it was going to be a darker fragrance in the vein of Encre Noire Eau de Toilette, Black Lacquer, or Max Richter 01. It turns out it is a much fresher interpretation of ink, or at least the paper that it sits on. Ink Mark opens with a confused blast of alcohol-y notes then settles very quickly into a coconut-rice sandalwood. Frankincense is completely absent while the rose plays a bit part in adding some smooth florals to the composition. It feels like a very "neutral" scent; it does remind me of paper if not the eponymous ink. I feel like the "rice"-iness of the scent is a bit contrived, like "we gotta make a scent for China! What do they like? Rice, of course!"

It's a bit of a weird scent which is a departure for LV, who usually play it ultra-safe. I don't hate it but it's nowhere near full-bottle-worthy for me. Just a fairly interesting experiment in scent which I'll enjoy wearing for the duration of my decant.

Ink Mark
My honest review on Louis Vuitton Ink Mark, my least favorite from the new Journey to China collection. If you are a sandalwood lover do not forget to try this out, reminds me of a mix of LVERS & Santal 33. The beginning is really creamy on my skin, a light ink vibe that sets it very smooth. The longevity of the perfume is decent. A casual office day longevity. 6.5/10 nothing to special and for €300…

Calligraphy Transformed into a Fragrance
Louis Vuitton has created Ink Mark (Journey to China Collection, 2025), a fragrance that feels less like perfume and more like a place. The theme of "ancient Chinese calligraphy" is truly translated olfactorily, as a cultural approach.

The opening feels immediately meditative: sandalwood lays a warm, smooth base, over which floats a sensation of white incense, frankincense, or sage - and then comes this interesting ink accord. Dry, slightly mineral, like ink on old parchment. This image perfectly describes it: ancient scrolls, ink, the tranquil air of a temple. And yes, it’s not for everyone.

However, Ink Mark evolves over time. As time passes, the fragrance becomes less angular and calmer, almost like being in a library among old parchments.

Performance: About 8-9 hours in total. In the drydown, it develops into a soft rose-amber note, beautiful and tranquil, but noticeably quieter. The projection becomes significantly more subtle and close to the skin.

Conclusion: Ink Mark is not a loud hype fragrance, but a conceptual scent that captures the idea of calligraphy surprisingly convincingly. Those who enjoy incense wood, paper/ink associations, and a calm, contemplative atmosphere will find something unique here. And those who hesitate at the first spray should give it more time and wear it multiple times before judging.

Reminds me of a mix of skin and paper, pleasant but not original. I would be surprised if there isn't a twin.

Sandalwood, but no dill
Synthetic, but no sting
Animalic, but no muck
Frankincense, but no church
Great!

Woody, creamy scent. A subtle note of incense underscores the scene. A light fragrance, not heavy as one might assume.
