Curious intersection of gourmand and oriental elements, effectively assembled
Sampling Mancera Silver Blue, a 2019 release that’s intriguingly at the intersection of gourmand and oriental/spicy/woody, something sweet and indulgent crossing over with the vague rose/saffron/oud category that is very commonplace in the Mancera and Montale catalogue. Silver Blue involves notes of caramel toffee, labdanum, patchouli, and oakmoss, so no rose/oud/saffron at all, but that’s still the lens through which I view many of these house’s offerings and is the easiest way to communicate why this particular fragrance is so interesting. The caramel toffee aspect is most prominent and perhaps the most distinguishing aspect of the fragrance, so I think its success largely hinges on how that note lands, and it’s quite pleasant and strong to me, overall, accented by some other aspects. I think this fragrance gets high marks for uniqueness within the catalogue and is a good one, overall, if not among my favorites of the house, performing quite well.

As with the rest of the line, its concentration is EDP and retail pricing is $200 for 120ml via US points of sale like the house website itself and great boutiques like Olfactif, though it’s also available on the secondary market.

A Night in the Alps
The old chalet was situated at 1800 meters, far from the grid, far from everything. Outside, the wind howled, not aggressively, but determinedly. The kind of wind that leaves traces in the snow that no one can read.
He stepped inside, threw wood into the fireplace, took off his coat, and with it, something spread through the room: a scent.
Cold, fresh, almost metallic. Absinthe, bergamot, cardamom, like clear air in the early morning, when the breath still steams and the world feels new.
Then, warmth. Cinnamon, caramel, amber. The scent was contradictory but that’s exactly why it was harmonious.
He sat by the window, watching the fog creep in from the valley. Silver Blue was no longer a perfume; it was the moment.

Hello dear sniffing gang
Now for the details:
The scent starts off quite citrusy for me, but is quickly replaced by sweet and spicy notes.
The longevity on my skin is about 10 hours, with a sillage of about 6 hours, present but not overwhelming.
A fragrance for the whole day, whether in the office, leisure time, or in the evening.

Its neither silver nor blue. its more an oriental scent with fresher masculine notes. Strange, boring and pleasant at the same time?

Patchouli, amber, balsamic notes and a touch of caramel. For me, Silver blue is a mature and fresher version of One Million.

Decent niche gateway. Anise makes for an interesting start. The dry down sweetness is nicely contrasted by labdanum's smokiness.

This is a perfect fragrance for everyday. Fall signature worthy. Spicy woody with freshness in the background.

Very nice ambery cardamom scent. Very similar to Nishane Papilefiko but the patchouli makes it a bit darker

Great ambery smell, I do not smell the absinth but the musky/amber smell and development is fantastic.

I find it very good, very masculine, great presence, mega sillage and awesome longevity. It does what it’s supposed to do - smell good and last long!

I don't understand how sour beer breath could become so trendy. Here it is also on ubiquitous, charred artificial wood. Disgusting!

Like a metallic half-empty. Strongly spicy and sweeter than its predecessor, which is bothersome. Overall not bad, but Penhaligon does it better.

When the hairspray opening is over, a lovely scent of burning leaves, Christmas spices, and aftershave rises to my nose.
