The First Scent of the House
Two years ago, in one of my first fragrance envelopes, there was Vanille Fleur. I have never smelled a finer peach scent before, and nothing has changed in that regard until now. For me, it remains the ultimate peach fragrance. Unfortunately, it is no longer available. But maybe one day I will be kissed by luck and manage to snag a bottle.
Since then, I have to keep trying Micallefs; I also found Vanille Marine great, a few of the many Mon Cristal of course, and Secrets of Love - Spiritual was also fantastic. The bottles designed by Martine Micallef are beautiful and handcrafted. I particularly liked the bottles from the Secrets of Love series. In the Atelier boutique in Grasse, you can even personalize your bottles.
Sashka was the first fragrance that Micallef released in 1996. To me, the bottles look like drops or tears. Sashka is still available in Gold, Green, Black, and Sun.
In Sashka, I detect jasmine and rose; the scent is slightly waxy, perhaps it’s violet. It has a somewhat nutty-woody aroma; maybe there’s sandalwood in it. The scent doesn’t last long on me, which is sometimes a problem I have with Micallef fragrances, perhaps due to my skin. Vanille Fleur and Secrets of Love Spiritual held up wonderfully on me.
If I ever go to Grasse, I will call ahead to Martine Micallef's boutique and wish for Vanille Fleur in the Secret of Love bottle ;)
