Surprised, because not surprised
My first contact with the fragrance actually happened in a very unconventional situation for me... I encountered the letter with the gifted sample during an unwanted move. I was recently transferred for work and had to quickly get to the moving boxes...
Now I stand there, completely sweaty, without any desire or mood, but what must be done, must be done.
As I load the last boxes into the car, it occurs to me to check the mailbox just in case, and lo and behold: no padded envelope. That means: no fragrance mail. Great, it would have been too good to be true.
But what do I see in there? I was mistaken, it is indeed a winning sample of Anticonformiste.
As you know me, I test the fragrance without ifs and buts and without regard to the time or surroundings.
And I immediately sit in the car.
I have a 3-hour drive ahead of me, and I didn't have time to change from my suit into comfortable joggers... definitely unconventional given my mood.
As the stress slowly subsided and the highway became a bit freer, the speed more constant, and my senses relaxed, only then did I actually perceive this fresh-synthetic scent of mint shower gel... but I didn't even have time to shower?
The freshness actually came from my right wrist! It brings a smile to your face every time you encounter a scent cloud you didn't expect at all, and yet it’s there.
Now I'm glad that I can at least spend the remaining hours of the drive enjoying the scent on my wrist.

Alberto Morillas is not reinventing the wheel. But that wasn't expected either.
Mint freshness meets flowers, qualitatively and long-lasting. Not unconventional at all!
Even while unloading the boxes and putting things away, the fragrance refreshes with the slightest waft of air, even after hours, with a slight spiciness from the pepper, but only because I recognized the notes.
The base with tonka bean is, of course, always welcome. It rounds everything off very well.
A truly welcome surprise that, scent-wise, is not surprising at all.

Pack of Deception of the Year?
A few words in advance: My sample of Anticonformiste came to me through a giveaway organized by Parfumo. It was the first time I won a raffle here, so I was quite surprised and grateful when I checked my mailbox today. However, I do not expect to enjoy the exclusive fragrance package further, even if my review here should receive a few more trophies than usual.

Because: I do not like the scent. I almost consider it a contender for this year's Pack of Deception award. Perhaps it is simply a case of disappointed expectations.

The fragrance notes do not sound particularly extraordinary, but that doesn’t have to mean anything. Maybe it’s an Aquatic that is edgy, fresh, but ironic. Just somehow nonconformist. Not at all.

The opening is disappointing, as it reminds me of all the fragrances that are often used by young people in sports changing rooms as a substitute for showering. Possibly like a scent from Alberto Morillas himself, just for a different brand that is found at Müller and Douglas and not like Mizensir at Breuninger. I haven’t tested much from Mizensir yet, but I have gotten the impression that they deal with quite solid perfumes.

Anyway: Violet and pepper are clearly recognizable, with the peppermint oil even more pronounced on the skin. After a generous appearance, however, these notes recede into the background and more and more Calone comes through. I do not find Aquatics to be inherently bad or synthetic or too ordinary. Therefore, I hoped to be dealing with some kind of different Aquatic, a nonconformist. But no, the Calone is a familiar one that seems to become stronger and makes the scent colder.

More than ever, I remember the changing room of the gym from my school days. It was not a pleasant place. Blue, gray, cold. Whether it’s the not particularly warming memories of it or the scent itself, I cannot say, but the stronger the Calone comes to the forefront, the stranger I feel.

So perhaps we do have a nonconformist scent after all, a spy that blends into the crowd, unrecognized, and yet does not necessarily want to attract attention. At least I can clearly smell the fragrance notes, not like with some diluted waters. Still: I do not like them.

A disappointment, then. The name is great, but it should be more than just empty talk. “Letters to a Young Contrarian” by Christopher Hitchens, for example, delivers what it promises. The book is a guide for those who want to question the status quo and think independently and critically, written by a true nonconformist who wrote against the zeitgeist and what was considered unspeakable. Hippies in Madrid, New Mexico, come to mind, who still live as if what the feuilleton calls late capitalism does not exist at all.

The promotional flyer states that the scent is inspired by New York. I guess I can save myself a trip there.

Nuuuuuu Jooooork
8:00 AM, my radio alarm clock turns on and Chris Martin wakes me and my husband. That's how you like to start the day. 1live is simply reliable! Quickly hopped into the shower, put on my new Guido-Maria-Kretschmer outfit and rewarded myself with twenty sprays of "Anticonformiste | Mizensir." The scent just suits me. After all, I am totally quirky myself. Tanja from administration will definitely raise her eyebrows. Ha!

So off I go in my yellow Fiat500, whose rear window is decorated with the names of my angels, and cheerfully head to the BKK Salzgitter office. I’ll get through these few hours quickly. Because tonight, it’s finally time again with the girls to sip cocktails at our favorite bar. Of course, I will capture it all on Instagram. Bärbel will probably comment again #wiederholungsbedarf.
Uuuhhh, Alicia Keys is now playing on the radio. So turn it up and sing along. Nuuuuuu Jooooork!

By the way, Mathias proposed to me on the Empire State Building back then, in front of all those people. So romantic.

So, jokes aside. What kind of ridiculous name is that? This scent is as anticonformist as Bautzener mustard at a barbecue in the East.
Furthermore, I wonder where the reference to New York comes from. But well, due to the urban diversity, you could attribute any scent to New York in some way.
However, especially in combination with the name, I can think of countless better ideas. Swing and blues, jazz clubs, seedy streets, taxi drivers, youth in the backyard, chaos of the 70s, electronic influences from Detroit and Chicago, riots on Christopher Street, cultural imports of every color, psychopaths on Wall Street, the beginning of breakdancing and graffiti…

Well, never mind. So, about the scent: boring!
If there’s a fragrance direction that is conformist, then it’s freshies. If anything, they really should have dared to take a risk here and reinvent the wheel, confuse people, maybe even shock them. As it stands, it remains a completely arbitrary fresh scent that you can find in every Douglas store and have already smelled. Just not at this absurd price.
Craftsmanship-wise, the perfume isn’t that bad. I find the top note quite successful and the performance is not bad for a fresh scent. However, over time it becomes too synthetic for me and unfortunately remains very linear and subtle. More mint and patchouli could have created a stronger contrast through the pepper for at least a few edges and corners, and maybe then the name wouldn’t have triggered me so much. Probably it still would.

The PR department of Mizensir should definitely do everything differently for the next scent. I would suggest renaming Anticonformiste to something more fresh first.

Nevertheless, I would like to sincerely thank you for the giveaway and the opportunity to test the scent.

A solid fragrance with a unique top note and questionable price
By chance, I got to enjoy a sample of exactly this fragrance! Mizensir - a brand I had never heard of before. Curious, I sprayed it on my wrist.

The top note starts uniquely: icy-fresh, melon-like, and at the same time with a hint of breezy, sea-salty lightness. You are greeted by a clean-fresh, not overwhelming violet that reminds one of "Millésime Impérial | Creed." Mint gives the fragrance an earthy note, but it does not take center stage; rather, it complements the top note with a slightly green twist.

As the fragrance develops, it becomes saltier, peppery-spicy, while the freshness gradually and steadily diminishes. Nevertheless, the Anticonformiste remains smooth from start to finish and shows no distinct edges. In this regard, it is quite pleasing. I cannot confirm the claims made in some comments that it smells like a low-quality drugstore fragrance. The scent is technically quite high-quality and does not come across as underdeveloped at any stage.

Although this fragrance is labeled as "Anticonformiste," the top note is surprisingly agreeable! Only in the base does it reveal a more unconventional note. Still, one should not be misled by this marketing, as Mizensir does not deliver a groundbreaking masterpiece here. Nevertheless, Anticonformiste is perfect for men looking for a universal scent. It suits any occasion - whether in the office, during leisure time, or simply to smell well-groomed. If one were to assign the fragrance to a season, it would be ideal for spring to summer, as its fresh, aquatic note is invigorating and cooling.

The longevity is about 5 hours, which I find acceptable for such a fresh-aquatic DNA. What is less acceptable, however, is the price: a proud €210 RRP. This amount needs to be digested, especially considering that both the packaging and the bottle are kept very minimalist. Here, you are met with just paper and a piece of glass - visible effort for the eye does not seem to have been invested. However, if you find the fragrance for €80-120, it could be worth considering a purchase - at least that is my assessment.

The top note of the fragrance is indeed quite unique; I have not smelled anything comparable so far. Anticonformiste lifts the spirits and is a pleasant "easy-to-grab" scent to smell good. However, it does not blow you away and is not an absolute must-have. As with many aquatic fragrances, longevity is an issue, but in my opinion, the Anticonformiste holds up well. One of those fragrances where there was a desperate attempt to create a story and generate "click-bait" with the name. I can absolutely understand why people are annoyed about that! Objectively speaking, it is a solid fragrance!

I hope my review helps someone in their purchasing decision for "Anticonformiste | Mizensir."

Enjoy testing Anticonformiste!

The Guardrail Scent. Anti-Conformism in the Guardrails of Mainstream Perfumery
So first of all: I was very happy to finally have won something. Even more so that it was the Mizensir, as I really love Cologne du Mate and Poudre d'or. So I unpacked it and tried it out...

At first, it seemed very masculine, almost shower-like. The mint comes through beautifully for me and develops with the violet leaf into a very fresh top note. Gardenia and Sichuan quickly come to the fore, which makes it quite spicy. The Calone is supposed to enhance this impression, and in the dry down, Tonka and Patchouli come into play, rounding off the scent a bit.

And now the guy's debut. I held my arm under his nose and it came: Your arm smells like arm... I kept sniffing it throughout the evening and I find it nice. It's somehow subtle but not entirely pleasing, and I was thinking about who I could gift this scent to. For a man, it's too little classic. For my dear office buddy, it's not linear enough, as he is quite conservative when it comes to perfumes. Even my other office buddy would find it too little oriental - he is into Ombre Leather stuff. But then my brother came to mind. He likes different scents, is somewhat of an anti-conformist in his own way, without it being immediately obvious to everyone... and that's exactly what this scent is too. It is different in the guardrails of pleasantness...

And now my verdict: Nice men's fragrance with beautiful components. I think it's quite good, but I wouldn't spend 250 euros on it - I want it too little for that. However, anyone who likes this blend should take a look at it.

Mint and violet leaf open fresh and with a slight sharpness, then unfortunately it becomes stuffy and peppery, gardenia doesn't dare to come forward.

Actually a "diluted" Kiton Men (violet/metallic)! ;) Less aquatic, more ozonic and more green and floral than here >

Minty-wrapped salt melon rolls in white pepper until the violet leaf clears the table. Quite nice, but nothing more.

Besides the typical aquatic, melon-like Calone, not much comes through for me. Not bad, but unconventional? 200€?? *Cough*

Turquoise blue, chlorinated, slick as an eel. That's how the pool landscape stands in the so-called world city. Full Calone to the scent center!

"Anticonformiste" unfortunately sounds like a perfume name generator, the scent doesn't live up to that promise. Designer like Invictus at a niche price.
