No candy, just coconut and frangipani!
This is not a bad scent, but still disappointing for a gourmand lover like me. I mean, look at the name, the bottle and the notes! I expected something heavenly sweet and intense, and maybe still a bit more sophisticated than some cotton candy drugstore spray.

And I got... A harmless tropical floral with coconut milk and vanilla. It's not really a pink scent and doesn't smell like candy. It is sweet, but rather subtle for a Montale, and overall a bit undefined.

The opening is slightly burned caramel popcorn, but I mostly get that on the blotter. On my skin it's gone super quick. Then the scent turns into a mix of frangipani, creamy coconut, bright vanilla and a touch of fresh citrus. I get no honey at all. It's a nice holiday scent. A beachy floral with a touch of fresh fruitiness and gourmand sweetness. It's not even super boring, just not that impressive.
I'd surely wear this if it was the last perfume on earth, but I see no need to buy this when there are so many greater tropical scents on the market.

Tropical frangipani and coconut
The fragrance is okay, but we've gotta talk about the chosen name and the color of the bottle. This would've probably been a better hit if it had been named "Tropical something" instead of Lucky Candy. I was expecting something sweet, gourmand, sugary and delicious like candy, instead I got a generic summer frangipani and coconut fragrance. It's not bad per se, but it smells like something I've already smelled in a designer fragrance somewhere. I only get frangipani and coconut. I've gotta give it to 'em, at least they used a different flower than the usual ylang-ylang-coconut pairing. It smells floral, tropical, slightly sweet, creamy and powdery. Where's the caramel, where's the honey? Nowhere to be smelled (at least to my nose). The fragrance should've been associated with a bottle sporting a soft yellow color instead of this bubblegum pink. It would've represented the fragrance better. Anyways, it dries down into a sweet vanilla fragrance with a hint of warmth and coconut ghost.

It's a nice fragrance, but nothing very unique. If you're looking for a coconut perfume that uses a different flower for a tropical vibe, this could be a nice one. I'm not so much a fan of coconut which is why it won't be making it into my collection. On to the next!

Not offensive, not inspired
Lucky Candy opens with a full-on throwback to the early 2000s. Think Britney Spears Curious on sugar steroids. It’s sweet, musky, and nuclear in that unmistakable mall-perfume-meets-body-spray kind of way. If you grew up around Bath & Body Works or celebrity scents, this will smell eerily familiar… maybe too familiar.

The pyramid promises “coconut cream,” but if it’s in there, it’s buried under a pile of synthetic musk, florals, and generic sugary fluff. There's no real coconut here, just the ghost of a plastic tropical lotion memory that never quite materializes. What you get instead is a cloying sweetness that doesn’t evolve much, hovering somewhere between nostalgic and juvenile.

It’s not offensive, but also not inspired.

Wants to be something it is not…
Despite the mixed reviews, I decided to go for it when I discovered a leftover bottle filled with 25ml.

So how does the new Montale smell?

Upon spraying, a distinct popcorn note emerges, which is quite nice but not really exciting - neither super caramelized nor particularly burnt or sweet.

Then it quickly becomes quite creamy and frangipani-heavy. The cream is lightly enhanced with unsweetened honey; coconut is not really noticeable to me.

And that’s pretty much how it stays. After a few minutes, an undefinable, softly piercing note develops, which has been described in the comments as similar to “maggi herb.”

The scent can still be sensed the next day, but the sillage and longevity are poor for Montale standards. The “cloud” loses intensity after several minutes and becomes close to the skin.

In summary: Not for me!

“Lucky Candy” wants (my interpretation!) to give a creamy Hawaii-South Sea-Spa vibe, which it simply fails to achieve. I find the piercing frangipani-honey cream rather unpleasant, and the popcorn opening does not fit the fragrance pyramid. Sillage and longevity are poor.

If you are absolute frangipani or cream fans, then go for it ;) I will definitely be passing on this one!

Love at the Second Test
I bought the fragrance blind based on the scent pyramid. Based on the name, I expected a cardboard sweet Montale (I love sweet and heavy scents). Admittedly, the name is a bit misleading. The scent has a light round sweetness for me, definitely not cardboard sweet or candy-like. I would even say it has a sensual sweetness. A bit mainstream (I detect a similarity to Lancome Miracle), but that's not a bad thing; on the contrary, I find everything here very rounded. It is by no means intrusive yet still present. Just right (for those who prefer something a bit casual). It can also be worn perfectly in everyday life or at the office. For me, it does not smell at all like toilet spray (how different tastes can be... haha). I can smell a light rose even though there isn't one in it, a beautiful rose. Light, not too sweet, and yet somehow sensual. Slightly powdery. That must be the frangipani. I like it a lot! After about half an hour, it becomes a bit
powdery (very slightly, the floral notes clearly dominate here). And from that point on, I find the scent really beautiful. If you like floral, slightly powdery fragrances, this is just right for you. I am glad to have this in my collection

I would categorize this scent as a feel-good fragrance. Sensual, lightly sweet. Feminine above all.

I also always spray fragrances in my hair; for me, that's one of the best scent carriers.

I have to keep smelling it again and again :-)

If you like Lancome Miracle, you will like this one too. Best to test it yourself

Sillage/Projection I would describe as good, not beast mode, but just right for everyday wear, a feel-good evening, or for work.

Edit: The shirt I wore this morning while testing still smells strongly of the fragrance :-)

A tropical frangipani and coconut fragrance. It's fine, but the name and the notes absolutely do not reflect what the fragrance truly is...

At first, gum, then a green-bitter note, and in the dry down, floral. Interesting scent progression, especially the heart, but overall too insignificant.

Smells different than the name suggests - fresh, creamy, clean, fluffy, airy with citrus notes on a sugary base.

Expected worse. First, pleasant, flower-garnished fruit ice cream. Unfortunately, a common dull-sweet-synthetic-white-floral base.

I now have the feeling that everything from Montale is hated for no reason. What's so bad about this scent? Soapy-sweet, light, pleasant.

I'm daring to say it: it unfortunately smells cheap! My partner: "like those things in the bathroom that spray by themselves!"
He's right :(

I don't find it synthetic at all. Beautiful gourmand notes at the start. In the dry down, powdery, white, sweet. Not as bad as often described here.

I imagined it to be more candy-like. Not overly sweet at all. I find it quite "basic," but that's okay, I still like it.

PYRAMIDENBLENDER...can't identify any of the gourmand notes. I only get synthetic rose musk "from the drugstore." Disappointing.

It starts off summery and citrusy for me, then it turns sweet and creamy. H/S: a Montale. I think it's pretty good, but it's not enough for me to buy.
