Sharp and piercing, yet meditative
I stumbled upon Ormonde Jayne's La Route de Soie collection while I was traveling and Xi'an stood out the most to me. I just had to buy a bottle. It's incredibly sharp and piercing—the sillage is insane—but the addition of musk, cedarwood and sandalwood grants it a very calming and almost meditative quality.
The rhubarb note is everything. It adds just the right amount of sweetness and sourness which balances out the rest of the notes, the combination just works and is more than the sum of its parts.
Xi'an is certifiably unique.
